Last Tuesday my little friend , my boxer doggie.. found a baby hedgehog in the mud during our walks
My doggie was very gentle with the little one....
I saw the little one on his back,,,closed eyes,, moving his little feet, still breathing..
I could see no wounds.. .. I decided to take it with me,,
He was very small.. he fitted in my hand..
I had to walk for a while so I decided to put it against my body , under my shirt..to keep him warm..
When I came home I decided to bring him to the hedgehogshelter near us..
He was only 130 grams,,,
He got an injection with antibiotics,, and when he was warmed up he started to move!!
They where able to get some fluyids with food in to his little mouth,, he realy took it!!
and after almost two hours in a nice warm cage he sat up and looked at me with his little black eyes,,and I fel in love with him..
I don,t have pictures yet,, I did not want to disturb him,, ,
but he is doing oke for now,, as soon as I can I will take a picture of my new little friend!!
It makes me happy!!

How lovely Anneke! You have certainly saved this little hedgehogs' life...he will need to be kept awake this winter to fatten up!
Can't wait for pics!
Wish we had a resident hedgehog to keep down the slugs!

thank you so much karen and Linda!!!
I keep my fingers crossed!!!
hope will make it!!
Yes he has to be about 700 gram before he could go into wintersleep..
hope I can go to the shelter next week ,,to visit him and take a picture
hugs anneke
arrrhhhhhhh he was so lucky you found him, I can't wait to see the pics,
I am so glad you rescued him, he would have died for sure.
Looking forward to seeing pics of the little sweetie. xxx
It's a good job you were there to rescue him - Mother hedgehogs are notoriously bad at rearing and taking care of their young - they just wander off and leave them - they can dehydrate so quickly - It always amazes me how other animals can sense when another animal is in distress - your boxer is a little star too
keep us updated as to your new little friend's progress
Love Sue
OHHHHHHHHH I

Well done to your Boxer dog - bless him for being so gentle too!
Please, please keep me posted - I love a happy ending!
