I have been wondering for ages but have dreaded asking this question, not sure how you guys are going to react to it

But i have to know so here goes.........
Do you guys 'play' with your houses when they are finished??????? or are the strictly ornamental, do you just sit and admire them???

I know the 12th scale houses are absolutely beautiful and some pieces appear extremely fragile (which is why klutz here does'nt collect it ), its also marketed for the adult market, which seems to indicate for viewing pleasure rather than 'playing' with.

I love sitting and changing things around in my kish 'house', posing my dolls in there, i sit there are feel like i'm 5 years old again
i do have a 'proper' adults dollshouse but its not furnished at all, i bought it to enjoy looking at it from the outside, but i think if it was furnished, somehow i could'nt see me touching it really, it would be more a work of art i think?

I guess its a bit like disscussing the 'playability' of a vinyl reborn and an ooak baby doll.

Hi Cindy, my dolls house is still in progress....but yes I do like to play!!

I thought I wanted a doll house for years...I got one, had everything just how I wanted it in each room, it sat for about 2 years totally untouched!!

I dont have it anymore, it seemed a waste just sitting there...

Cindy, I love to play, but I am not playing with my dollhouses as I used to play with mine when I was a kid!

I make a scenery - to explain what I mean is that in Grandma's house, grandma's two granddaughters are visiting watching the photo album while having bisquits and milk - they wear they night gowns because they will be staying over night and poor grandma will have to sleep on the couch, as they are going to have her bed to sleep in!

In another of my houses the 1910 - it still is Christmas, and has been so for 2 years now, ha-ha!!!!! In that house the servant, cook etc. are preparing Christmas dinner, the table is set, the tree decorated, and the gentleman of the house has his parents come visiting and celebrating Christmas with they - they are still being welcomed by the lady of the house plus the kids!!!

In my third house, the pharmacist (I do not know if that is the right name) loves to study all the young brides to be from behind the curtain, as only a curtain is separating the bridal shop to the pharmacy!!!!

I try to put a story into each house and make a scenery on that background! I may change the scenery, so they are doing something different, but not very often!!! I have a lot of fun doing so, but I do not play with my houses as I used to do when I was a girl, not at all, but the way I do it now, is also a way of playing isn't it - I looooooove it!!!!!

I don't know if "play" is the right word - no I don't get the dollshouse inhabitants up in the morning and put them to bed at night etc but I do rearrange the rooms every now and then and add things and take things away - and sometimes completely redecorate !!! Then I find something I really must have to go in a house - but really it dosen't "fit" with what is already there so - I have to get some more new things to go with it - so yes I am still enjoying them - but not really "playing" if that makes sense.

I don't have a doll house but if I do have one,I will definitely play with it but mostly I will leave it displayed.

Hubby has said when son moves out I can have a dolls house, doesn't want me to sell my doll hose furniture.
when I get my house Iwillplay with it as in doing it up, arranging the rooms and buying things for it, and re do it soit can have several different schemes, modern, oldy worldy, and cosy ect. I can't wait. and I may play with it to

Like you I have families in my houses..every other day Grandma dusts..while granpa sleeps..I change things around in my stores and I am always adding new things..right now I am really back into making things with fimo..so the shops are being stocked up again..
I redress my families..and often change the poor mums and babies around.. Mr Ballanyne.. my shopkeeper.. has had 3 different wives so far.....and goodness knows how many children he has..

Cindy..I 'play' with my houses in a different way as I did when I was a kid ..but I love them more I think..when I really want to play house..I wait till Keirra-Dawn comes to play..then I get to do all the baby talk and bring her dollies alive for her with her doll house.... ..it's fun..

I am pretty embarressed and ashamed by my answer which is no i don`t play at all and the reason i am embarressed is i begged and moaned at my hubby to drive 60 miles with me pick up my dollhouse and drive 60 miles back i put it in my dollycabin filled it with people and funiture plugged it in and thats it i feel very guilty and like a spoilt kid and when i was a kid i had nothing and would have adored this wonderful house i am going to try and get some interest in it maybe redecorate ??? make curtains ect

Phew! Thats a relief to see all you guys took this light hearted, and nice to know i am not the only one that 'plays', it does seem such a waste to collect these gorgeous items and not touch them at all

I re-arrange my doll house people and furniture rarely, only to dust but I look inside and pick up things almost everyday.
The lighted Christmas house, I could literally stare at all day , I find it so beautiful and tranquil and I do chat to Santa and his Mrs and dare I admit, I sing Jingle bells to the reindeer but don't tell anyone.

Yep I play - move things around, add new things but my houses and shops are all in various stages of completion. I'm forever changing my mind about things - like should I add a door here or a wall there.....it's never ending fun!

At the moment i am renovating a house but i will certainly play with it when it is finished i also have a shop and i love making things to go in it ,enjoy your house

I like to play ... lol ... i had two boys but they each had dolls prams and vacum cleaners and dolls houses along with their cars, forts, space men etc ... im glad cos now they are very useful around the house he he

we have a huge victorian wooden dolls house and a the modern playmobile house with so many extensions to it , it could be called a hotel lol - i love that house but its all boxed up in the loft waiting for my grand babies to arrive ( NO NOT YET BOYS lol)

when i worked in the playschools i had charge of the dolly house - wouldnt let the kids play incase they messed up my layout - he he only joking??? am I ??

i think you dont `play` as much as rearrange bit like your own home really - my hubby goes to work ay 6am and comes home at 8pm thinks he is in the wrong house cos when im bored everything moves around lol

Avril - I wish so too - that would have been a dream - I would have loved all the fun that we could have together playing with and decorating our dollhouses and making up all the family stories in our houses and shops, my dear friend!!!!
