Does anyone know of any Arthritis aids for use with a computer?? Need help here ladies, before I have to cut down drastically on the comp.

My mom just found out that she has rheumatoid arthritis.. and she's
seventy-six years old.. which is pretty old. They say most people
dont' get it past fifty.. A friend of mine told me about a newer
drug you take by injection called 'Embrel'... Have you heard of
that? Hope you feel better soon.. I'd really miss you if you couldn't

Kat I have rhumatoid and Osteo, the later for over ten years and first about a year. But my hands and fingers are getting a lot worse, I will invest in the hand device for the comp and see how it helps. I have not been put on any drugs for it as I have an adverse reaction to most medication. and I think they want to wait till I am older before they try me on anything.

It is a horrible disease and I wouldn't wish it on any one.

Hi Veronica, had to reply to this one quickly. I have had RA for 4 years now and am on a cocktail of pills including methotrexate, leflunomide and fortnightly injections plus pills to stop the others making me feel sick and gaining a stomach ulcer. I know I have been lucky in not reacting to any of my medication but surely it is worth trying a few pills to see if they can work for you. I know I would be crippled now if I wasn't taking all my pills and the injections are fantastic, although they are a bit painful.

Janet I meant to edit the above, I do take Glucosamine and that helps enormously and paracetamol for when the pain is really bad.
I started this post as I have been finding it increasingly more painful and therefore difficult typing these last few weeks. I think my finger joints are on the move again I just wanted to know if anyone uses any aids for the comp and if they find it any easier.
The Dr hasn't commented on any meds since I had to stop taking the anti inflammatory meds., My dad has an injection for his once every month I think and it works for him to an extent. The Glucosamine works for me, it keeps me mobile,

I am pleased the meds work for you Janet, it's ironic that my nan was used as a guinea pig with Arthritis meds, the DRs used her to -*test*-('") many many different meds, and I can't benefit from them. I really do have a bad reaction, I space out and am paralyzed for about half an hour each time. this happened twice with my inflammatory and my dr is wary about trying me on any others. I may not come out of it again, and it scars me to try.

My granma in law has not long had surgery to replace her knuckles and shes doing greta now.She says its the best thing thats happened to her and has given her a new lease of life.Shes started knitting again too.

I hope you soon find some thing to make your life easier.

I have chronic inflammatory illnesses and I treat myself naturally as much as possible. Best thing I have tried in the last 4 years for inflammation ( and have gotten others to try, in my family etc. for their arthritis etc.) is Natural Factors brand Turmeric and Bromelain ( best place to buy is www.iherb.com). Has eliminated alot of my pain and inflammation by taking this. First relief my father got from his pain with arthritis in his back.

This has been a life saver for me!

Thanks Linda for the info, I will try this,my hubby has Tumerac on practically everything. so I will try this in stews and soup. Bromlain,I will try this to,though I have a suspicion I am allergic, I will ask hubby about this,he has a better memory then me.

I am really sensative and allergic to alot of things. Have had no problem at all with this and even checked my liver counts recently etc. too ( something you should have done peridodically on medicines or other things, to make sure you are not getting to much and damaging your liver or kidneys) and mine were all fine.
Bromelain from pineapple plant, good for inflammation and digestive things, helps to temper the turmeric in this capsule form. I recommend this brand because it is no fillers and the one I have tried and -*test*-('")ed on me, so therefor I know what it will do. Need to give it a good 3-4 weeks or more just like medicines to start seeing results. But as I said, I have been doing it about 3 years now and really the best thing I have tried. Not a cure but sure makes things alot better!!!
Also is good for blood vessel health, so my Fibromyalgia on the brain ( foggyness we get etc.) has been better, no headaches daily or migraines like before and so on.
