Thank you so much for your help with the glue.
I was wondering just how durable are celnit babies, would it be save to take my foster baby out in the pushchair, or would the bumps on the path ect likely to break or crack him, thinking about adopting him myself if he doesn't sell on ebay. and can I get him coloured a little darker??

The easiest way to break an OOAK is mostly letting the toes and fingers knock against each other, pushing an OOAK in a pram or pushchair would not p dollchitchat/bearthrowingkisses.gif dollchitchat/bearthrowingkisses.gif dollchitchat/bearthrowingkisses.gif ut the doll at risk, as if it were me I would have the doll wrapped in a blanket or shawl, we do this at shows purely for protection of the limbs,

Ok I finally got hubby to get some super glue, typing this now with it all on my fingers. the question is how can I get the excess of her poor thumb. the bits that dripped?? I realised I only needed a pin prick amount. dollchitchat/sign07.gif

Wet and dry sand paper, very gently take away the surplus, when its all done dab on baby oil to remove the dry patch from sanding, and let the baby oil soak in, leave for about an hour, then wipe the rest away, dollchitchat/bearthrowingkisses.gif dollchitchat/bearthrowingkisses.gif dollchitchat/bearthrowingkisses.gif

I can't help with your fingers though, if you have stuck yourself to the key board, just scream,it won't fix your fingers but boy will you feel good, laugh.gif laugh.gif laugh.gif

I could have sworn I replied to this.

Thank you Janet I will try this tomorrow. I was really worried I had spoiled her.
as for my fingers I am happy peeling the glue off, I find having cold hands helps.

dollchitchat/4.gif Hi i know i am probably going to sound like a right donut here dollchitchat/free-11.gif but could you tell me is OOAK always a hard to the touch baby and is prosculpt hard ?
i get so mixed up with babies for sale dollchitchat/free-11.gif biggrin.gif thanks in advance dollchitchat/blinkysendingsmiliesandhugs.gif dollchitchat/bearthrowingkisses.gif dollchitchat/bearthrowingkisses.gif

An OOAK is mostly hard to the touch as its made of clay, and yes that includes proscult too, there are sometimes a one of a kind silicone made, but the original would have to be destroyed along with the moulds to achieve this, and also it is very costly, dollchitchat/bearthrowingkisses.gif

Hi Janet,

My question is about the clays themselves im going to sound dimb here but im new to sculpting im just doing my fifth baby.

Im trying out some different clays to see which one i like the best, im working with Livingdoll at the moment which im finding easy to use.
I liked pro sculpt but find it harder to buy in the uk.
I have also tryed Cernit but couldn't get the seams to blend and found it hard so gave up.

Noticed you mentioned modelene can i ask if it is more like Livingdoll where you can add and blend or harder like Cernit.

Sorry to rant on dollchitchat/4.gif but im loving learning to sculpt and just wanted to try lots of clays untill i find one im happy with xx

Hugs Kate x

No modeline won't blend either, we have to sculpt more or less the face that we like then put a whole sheet of clay over this so there are no join marks, check out the sculpting tutorials to see what I mean,

Thanks Janet,

I will take a look in the tutorial section dollchitchat/vdaybouncies3.gif

Im at the painting stage with my Ooak, Can i ask what everyone uses to paint with.

I notice in the tutorial section the paint goes on before baking, i normally paint using Genesis paints can these be applied to un baked clay? or would use advise using something else x

THe Genesis paints I would think would be used after baking, but I haven't used them so I can't be sure, I use blusher and water based blue paint that I do on the unbaked clay, the blusher has to be completey matt with no shiny bits in it at all,

lullabydolls*janet*- 07-25-2008
Lisa there are books, the doll magazine ran an article on sculpting a baby, plus we do have tutorials on this forum too, and if you put a search on the internet you may get quite a few tips too,
