Hi I have a Rita Rich preemie solid silicone kylie , she is about 14 inches long and a real cutie , thing is she's very bald .

I took these pics when I brought her and unfortunately she has shed most of this hair now ...

I was wondering about removing the very last straggly bits she has and maybe rooting her some more ?

can you give me some tips for rooting silicone please , ie which needles , I have some wonderful mohair from slumberland nursery which is the nicest i've had and very fine , I know she's only litle but I thought it could be a little project for me and if I mess it up I can always remove it ?

Thanks in advance dollchitchat/vdaybouncies3.gif xx

Hi Catherine
i know you will get expert advice from here but i just got to say i just love rooting silicone.
You need to make sure its rooted deeper than a reborn though because as you know there is nothing to seal it in. Like you say if you dont like it you can always remove it.

Hi Catherine, rooting silicone is easy peasy, first you need to remove all the other hair, use tweezers for the stuborn ones. We use a fine sewing needle with the eye cut in half thus leaving a U shaped opening but a fine felting needle will do the same job. Its just a matter of taking your time and doing it thoroughly, there is no other skill needed, we love doing the rooting and you should have no problems, if you do please contact either Janet or myself and we will try to help out, Carol

Thanks so much ladies I really appreciate it dollchitchat/bearthrowingkisses.gif

I know she only has a wee head but I thought it could be a little project for me , I won't give her too much hair what with being a preemie I think a big old head of hair would just look odd but i'll give it a go soon I think .

Thanks again dollchitchat/vdaybouncies3.gif xx

I'm not sure what comes with the kit anyway, I know when you buy a kit from Melissa you get the paint included, best to check on that first,

I got a question, Can any one get a baby made into silicone. I mean say I wanted to get Marie made into silicone could I do it?? and how much would I be looking at in cost and wait, dollchitchat/AddEmoticons12628.gif

susi- 05-21-2008
Hi Veronica, no Im afraid its not that simple, you would have to have permission from the artist before you could have a silicone made.

redvelvet- 05-21-2008
Thanks Susi. this takes some serious thinking about. Say I did have the permission. how much are we talking about to get just one baby doll done. dollchitchat/pompomgirl.gif

susi- 05-21-2008
It would depend on the size of the baby but it is a very expensive project for one baby as the moulding and casting prices are just the same as they would be for an edition, is it an ooak you wanted doing????

redvelvet- 05-21-2008
Susi it is my reborned vinyl baby in the middle of my siggy pic, my beautiful Marie, she has been reborned from an Antonio Juan doll.

susi- 05-22-2008
I doubt if you would get permission Veronica as they are mass produced, you would need to contact the company
