Hi Susi, i don`t know a thing about silicone babies, could you tell me where i could find a place to look at some and that would do layaway, thanks Marie
susi- 07-06-2007
Hi Marie, silicone babies are wonderful, the most amazing thing is the feel of them, you really need to cuddle one before you buy, they are the closest thing to a real baby I have ever come across. I think you will find that most Artists do layaway, The best thing is to find an Artist who's babies appeal to you and take it from there. You could always try and get one on the secondary market. If you could get to one of the doll shows that would be the best place to actually see one in the flesh. I will put a post on here asking people to post their silicone baby's for you to see. Beware though you soon get hooked

Hi,
I'm waiting for my first Silicone to be delivered. I have read you have to dust them in corn starch or something like that. Can you use baby talc instead? and also If you don't do this what will happen. Thanks very much.
susi- 07-07-2007
Just thought Marie, if you go to the silicone heaven section here on DCC you will find lots of lovely silicone babies.(duhhh why didnt I think of that sooner) Wendy nothing bad will happen if you dont dust them, in fact there are people who dont do this. You can use corn starch but I would recommend Baby powder, the difference in the feel and that baby smell is just amazing. When I have the silicone parts all ready to send to the artist I always give them a baby powder dusting before they go, simply because I love the smell and feel!!! Congratulations on your new arrival x

Hi susi
I have my silicones displayed in turn on a baby bouncing chair which is OK in the day but the chair is under a lamp on a stand and I always take the baby to bed when I put the light on. Would the silicone be ok under a light for a few hours or am I doing the best thing.removing them
susi- 07-10-2007
Hi Jeanette, well I only deal with platinum cured silicone so I cant speak for all types but with the platinum cure there is no reason for me to believe the lamp would harm the silicone, it is very robust and I have never known it to discolour. Personally I wouldnt leave them under a lamp in case the paint had a reaction, again I have no reason to believe it would but better to be safe than sorry x

Thanks Susi the chair is on the floor and the lamp is stood on a pedestal so not that near but I think I will carry on putting them to bed when the light goes on

can you only get a silicone made from a clay sculpt baby? and what about a silicone vinyl, ?
Lullabydolls*Carol*- 08-30-2007
Silicone dolls are made by taking a mold of the original, it is possible to take a mold of any doll but the ethics of taking a mold of someone elses doll without their permission are questionable. Silicone vinyl is a factory produced substance and it wouldn't be feasible to make these kind of dolls without all the necessary (and I suspect expensive) specialist equipment. I hope that answered your question, if I didn't understand you correctly get back and I'll try again, Carol

How do you keep those eyes clear? i can't put powder on them! lol and fluff likes to get in there! ...they are silicone ones.
Thanks!

I use a rubber ended tool to rub over the eyes, or you could use a fine paint brush or cotton bud, and blow as well,
