Wheat intollerance???

When I visited my local health food store I was saying that I had M.E and I was getting very frustrated. They said had I considered that i may have a wheat intolerance? ... I hadnt really thought about it and it had never been mentioned to me at my GPs ... but then once they have done all the -*test*-('")s and have diagnosed you, they just leave you to get on with it!

So has anyone any advice?

dollchitchat/vdaybouncies3.gif Vicki not too sure about if you have had the -*test*-('") confirmed?
But I have suffered with several severe allergies over the last 5/6 years. I have been in hospital many times and had many allergy -*test*-('")s so bare with me while I try and remember. dollchitchat/bigthink.gif

I think it was about 18months ago now when I had a very bad allergic reaction and was in the hospital, the consultant mentioned wheat intolerance and also gluten intolerance. They said there was a sure -*test*-('") which would tell for sure. And so I was given the -*test*-('"). They have to do what is called a Gastroskophy ( I think that is how its spelt) where they insert a small tube into your mouth and down to your stomach where they take a small sample just at the top of the stomach ( this is called a biopsy) It doesnt hurt and you are awake all the time. You can be sedated if you need to but honestly the worst part is swallowing the tube. The whole thing is done in the shor-*test*-('") time and really it does not hurt. With me the -*test*-('")s came back negative as that is not one of my known allergies. But if you are having so much trouble it may be worth asking your GP about the -*test*-('"), as it would rule out or confirm any problem you may have. Good luck I know its a constant struggle with allergies and intolerance but there are ways of controling things once they have been found out. XXXXX Hope this was a little hep to you. xxx dollchitchat/vdaybouncies3.gif

Thankyou for your reply...

The -*test*-('") you are referring to is for ceoliac (sp) disease and is an intolerance to gluten and causes symptoms not the same as mine .... my auntie had this disease.
There is alot of info on the net about it but its just too much! ... I was told that the -*test*-('")s for intollerance that are done arent very reliable.

Hi Vikki,
I suffer from wheat intolerance I have not been -*test*-('")ed but know I am due to the symptoms if I eat wheat laden products. I have a few other intolerances too ie MSG. I mainly suffer tiredness, headaches, puffy eyes and achy limbs. I also suffer acid reflux and the "trots". Hope this helps you? I try to avoid wheat products as much as possible although I am not too bad on Ciabatta or Pitta bread so it has been suggested I have yeast intolerance too.! I often say to Keith I think I am just intolerant of food apart from fruit, veg and chocolate ( wish I was intolerant to chocolate.!). dollchitchat/141.gif
