I know to keep bjd's out of sunlight because of their tendancy to yellow, but can anyone tell me if heat does the same?

My bedroom is shaded but it's an attic bedroom as we live in a dorma bungalow and it gets really hot in summer.

I'm just trying to figure out where to display my evergrowing bjd family dollchitchat/AddEmoticons00114.gif

I haven't had any problems with either Kathryn, BJD's yellow if they are in the dun for a long time, or little bits of sun after a very long time so I would worry about it too much. I've never heard to heat bothering them. Vaz who I've had the longest is in full sunlight all day long and he hasnt shown any signs of yellowing at all

Thanks H, I guess if you live in a hot country they're exposed to heat as well. It does get overwhelmingly hot in our bedrooms in summer (but not as yet this year lol!!). One day we want to fit air-con but for now we have a portable air-con and fans.

You're more then welcome Kay gald I could help ^^ I'm sure they'll be fine in a really hot room, if you do start getting really worried about them you could alway move them until it gets cooler in the evening ^^
Lol an air conditioner would be great it's get unbarebly hot in our house in summer but alas I don't think this could be called a summer for the weather we're having over here.

I've never heard of heat bothering them, either. H, I find that very interesting that Vaz has been in sunlight all the time and hasn't yellowed...I have heard reports of dolls that were kept in climate-controlled rooms with no UV rays at all that have still yellowed. I know the french resin does...that is why I sold my Narae. I loved that doll, but the thought of her turning yellow scared me to death so I sold her before it could happen. I wish they made her in a regular resin...

They do now dollchitchat/pompomgirl.gif Well MSD size Narae is being offered in normal resin and I'm guessing it's only a matter of time until the SD is too

Oh, that's awesome news! I wonder if I will love her as much in regular resin as I did in the french resin? It gave her such a mystical, etheral quality...she just glowed...

There's not been any owner pics yet of the new resin, they're still being made. The French resin is supposed to have a better UV protection on it now too but I know what you mean about yellowing, for some people it's ok, but it would really bug me!

Mary I find it odd aswell DoD dolls are supposed to be notorious for it, but he's fine and he doesn't have MSC on his face or anything either, so I just figured some are more prone then others for whatever reason.
As soon as I heard about the yellowing I was really worried but the only place for my guys is in full sun so I didn't have much choice I don't want them to go yellow but I guess it's going to happen one day.
Ooo I didn't know they had made a normal resin Narae either it would be great if she was just as good as the French resin one, it would be great if you could get her back Mary.
Thanks for the info Kay XD

I've just checked the site, and they are doing the 60cm size in the normal resin

Kathryn,

I agree with everyone else, I think most of them aren't that sensitive to sunlight, heat etc. I had a custom house doll and a dollfie for a long time and neither ever showed any signs of turning colors but I had a french resin Narsha girl from Dollmore and she did turn yellow, it was very sad. The French Resin is absolutely stunning but very tempermental.

I don't have any BJD's anymore but I sure do love them!
