I've heard a few people say that resin is a cold to the touch medium so i'm curious to know if it warms up like silicones do?
You can cuddle a silicone and it can stay warm for ages is that true of resins?
You can get heat pads that gently warm, can you use these with a resin if say you're taking them out in a stroller?

Hello Liz..
Simon here..
Now here is a subject that I do know about....
I have had over 25 years experience working with resin..
Resin has thermo properties..which means that it responds to heat or cold..
Resin..once cured and set hard will warm up after a few minutes of handling..if you put it in the fridge..it will get cold..
Most resin's are hard to the touch..but will warm up in the hand.
There are other types of resin called Epoxy Resins which are more flexible...as well as warming up in the hand..they feel a little softer to the touch adding to the illusion of warm flesh..
If a resin doll is in a pram..and has been there for some time it will be cold when you pick it up..
A heat pad that is gently warm..will warm a resin baby safely...
If you put hardened resin in an oven it will start to become rubbery..at around a 130 oC...but it will not melt.
So a heat pad would only gently warm the baby...and not do any damage.
The hotter the resin becomes..the longer it will take to cool down...so a very warm heat pad will keep the baby warm longer..you just have to experiment with this to get you to the lenght of time you require the baby to warm for..
You cannot harm resin with a mircowaveable heat pad..
In fact we will be bringing out resin babies ourselves over the next couple of months..and I would love to know what you think of them when they are done..
Hope this has help Liz.
Regards
Simon..

Thank-you for the info Simon,it is appreciated.
Luckily i would not put a doll in the fridge or oven dollchitchat/2.gif
It's good to know they'll warm up in your hands because when i cuddle a baby i find it comforting and cuddling something cold wont have the same effect if you see what i mean.
This is a medium i'm excited to learn more about.
