Hi Ladies
Well, they have done it this time, ebay, evil bay. Have just received an email from ebay telling me good news!!!!
Yes as of May you will have to offer paypal in your listings. I have done this since i started 2 years ago.
Now they say for "seller safety". AS of June, i can no longer offer any other payment method BUT paypal except if it is pick up.
This is on ebay.com.au is this the same around the world?

I will fix them, i will state that buyer is to contact me prior to payment, that way i can offer direct payment, think that will work dollchitchat/AddEmoticons12628.gif dollchitchat/AddEmoticons12628.gif

Dont know what is wrong with ebay people...they are riding rough-shod over the seller again!

I see also that now, no matter what the value of the acution for the first bid, the buyers id remains annonymous...so lots of scope for shill bidding and pushing up the prices (more comission for ebay)

This is now the time for the other auction sites to really pick up & start to make their own sites a viable selling/buying market...ebay have had the monoploy for too long now, thats why they continue to make these dicissions dollchitchat/stick.gif dollchitchat/stick.gif

Like you I will suggest they contact prior to payment, but suspect that ebay will fix the checkout system so that they HAVE to pay immediately at the auction end...

I feel really strongly about this too. eBay have recently changed their policies in the UK saying that you can only list certain items if you accept Paypal. I have accepted paypal for many years but on certain items this is not viable, ie items of low value that are heavy. once the listing and the end fee have been taken out you don't want to then be paying paypal fees on top especially if the postage is high. You will end up paying out more than you get back.
Now that you can't leave negative feedback for buyers, more and more bidders are bidding high on items and then deciding if they want to purchase the item or not. Originally I had about 2% non paying bidders which lept to over 25% non paying bidders when ebay changed their rules.
I am no longer selling on eBay. I am selling on www.groovycart.co.uk

Ebay in the US hasn't done the "everything paypal" yet but if they do I'll start to look for another place to sell. I have enough of a following for my patterns now that I could branch out. Does anybody have places where they sell other than E-bay I could sure use some suggestions. My website is bulit around my e-bay store but that can change easily.
Thanks

I believe the paypal only thing starts in October in the US....several of my yahoo doll groups have been complaining about it.

Just another way of getting extra money out of people...fees to list, FVF and then guaranteed fees on any payments.....no great surprise to be honest.

I'm sure that Ebay will loose business but not enough to make them care and do something about it!

We received the "news" yesterday about the eBay changes. Because of all the difficulties I've had with the buyer backing out before they send the money order, we stopped taking those. However, I find this thing over the ratings upsetting since we only sell occasionally. I think eBay only wants "stores" or big sellers and are weeding out the little guy. I'm thinking I'll complete this auction, provided I win, and stop shopping eBay for baby (doll) clothes or dolls and start buying from the stores and doll shops since eBay obviously neither needs nor wants my business since I'm not "big time" and making them big bucks! Doesn't this stink? Every few months they make it just a little more difficult for sellers! What about all those dishonest buyers that refuse to send payment? When are they going to tighten the screws on them?

I don't have much to do with ebay and hearing everyone's complaints about it I never will.

The Sellers seem to have no come back whatsoever against awful buyers. No longer can you leave bad feedback even if it has been the worst transaction ever!!
They can even file a non receipt claim after a few days...it is truly just not worth the aggro!! dollchitchat/AddEmoticons00114.gif

From Germany I am only able to sell to the UK if I offer PayPal ... if I don't do so - which is usual for me because of those ridiculous fees if I am only seeling small things within Europe - people from UK cannot buy from me ... as it seems the bay still hasn't earned enough money ... dollchitchat/stick.gif

am I misunderstanding things here [QUOTE] more and more bidders are bidding high on items and then deciding if they want to purchase the item or not. I didn't think this was an option dollchitchat/AddEmoticons12625.gif

I don't sell so that side is a mystery to me but if I bid and win I pay up.......... I understood that was the rules of the auction dollchitchat/AddEmoticons00114.gif If I need time to make my mind up then I watch............yes I know it's not popular but I hold my hands up I am a watcher dollchitchat/sign07.gif ............ if I really like it but don't have the funds right there and then I talk to the seller first see if they're happy to wait till payday if they are then I go ahead and bid if not then fair enough I wouldn't but I have to say no-one who I've asked has said no to me yet either here or in the U.S. I wish ebay would take action against those buyers so us honest ones can be trusted again dollchitchat/32.gif

Actually I do think PayPal is quite a good idea for overseas transactions. I live in UK and as a Buyer would have awful difficulty sending money abroad if it wasn't for PayPal. I have tried it a couple of times and it was a nightmare. PayPal is convenient but I realise that it does work out expensive for the seller.

Is anyone else unhappy with the fact that Sellers are unable to leave bad feedback for Buyers??

I've had a falling-out with eBay: they're trying all ways to get rid of the small guys, as far as I can see. I just closed my shop when the fees shot up from £6 an month to £14.99.
In the past, my friend complained bitterly about eBay fees but I thought, Well, world-wide exposure, good advertising, etc., etc. Now - I think it's time to jump ship and look at etsy, notonthehighstreet...anyone know of any other sites?
