Wow, the border looks amazing. My friend knitted one with the raised "petal" design on, it had two layers , the top a contrasting colour to the bottom one, and my daughter just loves it - so I think your blanket will be well loved! Like y ou though my friend wont do another one, which is a shame, she said it hurts her hands now and she is trying to crotchet. The border looks amazingly delicate pattern.

OMG - it is beauuuuuutiful - - the mum will be all over the moon with this one - well done, my dear friend - you are so talented!!!!
