Well,I've just come back from a long weekend in Hereford, every thing was perfect.
Then I went to the doctors to get the results from my glucose -*test*-('"),BOY have I come out
feeling depressed !!!!! I've got to loose weight, exercise more,I HARDLY EVER SIT DOWN EVEN AT WORK.have more -*test*-('")s,the way the diabetic nurse was carrying on it's a wonder I walked out.
I've been trying to loose weight, but she recons I'm not doing it properly.
Grrrrrrrrrr I'll show her,any one else having these sorts of problems.
I feel like some naughty kid ,to cap it all the nurse was no sylph !

Oh Liz I wouldn't worry too much, just do your best, they are never satisfied with these -*test*-('")s they do, and they change their minds so many times, just be sensible with the odd sin, dollchitchat/Love-Bear.gif dollchitchat/Love-Bear.gif

I am in the exact same situation, Liz! "Pre-diabetic" they sometimes call it....we have a lot of diabetes (both types) in my family and all my immediate female rellies are diabetic so I am -*test*-('")ed 6 monthly and do my own blood/sugar -*test*-('")s monthly.

They do say getting diabetes isn't inevitable if you do all those horrible things the nurse told you to do - lose weight, exercise, eat nothing but sawdust and don't so much as look at a bar of chocolate...I am hopeless at all of it (pass me the coffee cake!). Having said that, my blood sugar levels are pretty steady and I just take each day as it comes.

I agree, those chunky nurses should watch who they're talking to before being judgmental about the extra few pounds we're carrying!

Well I am not pre diabetic yet, but it runs in the family so only time will tell. but I do have an under active thyroid, so like you have been told to lose the weight and exercise more, stay of the sugars and eat porridge for breakfast. Porridge is fine for the first few days and Liz suggested with cinnamon which is actually very nice. I like it with raisins to.
My mum who is diabetic suggested I have my none sugar cereal but just half the bowel and a piece of fruit either with it or after it, this is what I do now when not eating porridge. I think for our health we have to do as we are told, but for our sanity a little sin rarely, shouldn't do us much harm if we are willing to suffer the consequences. Me I am not, I take my thyroid tablet every day, I don't eat the sweet stuff because I just feel ill if I do.
have I missed my ice cream my all time favourite, well yes, I had a small one the other day and was very ill after wards, so I won't be having it again.
It will be interesting to see if your nurse becomes ill with diabetes or thyroid problems, both can start because of over weight. a good herbal to break down fat is Lecithin. I always forget to take mine. dollchitchat/Christo_pull_hair.gif I have to be -*test*-('")ed again in 6 months to, to check for diabetes and see how my thyroid is doing.
Liz just do what you can and as has been said just take one day at a time, don't beat yourself up about it. dollchitchat/bearhugblinkie1.gif

dollchitchat/angel_sm029.gif I was diagnosed with m.e nearly five years ago and it has been really hard going. I put on nearly 4 stone over that time from being so so tired and inactive.I tried a few times to loose weight but just became even more tired and because of the tiredness I craved sweet foods. I have now learnt to pace myself and have got to the stage where i do get better times as it seems to go in circles.Anyway 8 weeks ago i started having slimfast and although i don't agree with this type of dieting i needed a kick start to get me going and 3 weeks ago moved onto weight watchers and have now lost a STONE!!!!!!!.I like weight watchers because they have chocolate eclairs and caramel crunch plus caramel wafers so my sweet tooth is taken care of. I do this on my own and not at a meeting.
Anyway the message is don't give up find whats right for you.The first two weeks are hard going without but you do ajust and really start to feel better for it.I still go out sometime for a meal and have what i fancy and this way it keeps me on the straight and narrow. I'm still plodding on and it's slow going but i'm going to keep trying
Only 3 more stone to gooooooooooooooooooooo xxxxxx dollchitchat/Love-Bear.gif

Gail I hope your feeling better soon and can start the healthy eating. is there a reason you can't start introducing the healthy eating now???? it should start you feeling better sooner rather than later.
I have RA and OA arthritis so I know what pain is and it is so easy to reach for the chocolate, but it isn't going to stop the pain, it is going to make it worse. please for your health, try and introduce the healthy foods and diet now. thinking of you and sending you hugs. dollchitchat/bearhugblinkie1.gif dollchitchat/bearhugblinkie1.gif

I am really struggling right now with weight and exercise (lack of)...tonight I had a work meeting to go to followed by a meal and I just couldn't find anything to wear that fits me. I know I've been avoiding social outings more of late because of this very problem.
Like Marianna I have been very inactive because of feeling so tired and unwell but now I feel I am in a 'catch 22 situation'...I am taking medication which puts on the weight, feel uncomfortable and unmotivated....grrrr what do you do? dollchitchat/bigthink.gif

I have been diagnosed with Diabetes type 2 not long ago and it was a real cuture shock for me. The chocolate were my vice and when I was diagnosed with diabetes my GP and nurse of the surgery said just don't eat sugar. I was told to lose weight which I am now doing. I was told that missing meals was not a goog idea. I must admit I am starting to feel better I can still have chocolate just limit how much I have. and it is part of my diet plan But the best part of all, the money I save on not having so much chocolate I can now spend on more dollies dollchitchat/2.gif Ann
