I have not seen anything but I think they are on vacation

dollylori- 07-24-2008
Hi,
I sent them 4 emails, all well in advance of the vacation. I received NO RESPONSE. I emailed 2 of them directly to Claudia from repair. I get the idea they just don't want to deal with this. Just to let you know, I really think this is much more of a problem for the 2006's. I've yet to see a documented green spot on a 2007. They did change the vinyl formula in 2007.

elphsnt- 07-25-2008
I think the vinyl formula changed significantly after 2005 for the 2006 year. The dolls are MUCH lighter in 2006. I think the formula changed again in 2007 and then again in 2008, but I'm not sure how much the formula changed after 2006. lthough the dots are not as common on the 2007's *as of now*, but there have been dolls with the green spots.

I hope you get a response soon, Lori, but at this point you may be better off calling them after the break. It's much more difficult to ignore a phone call than an email.

I've had a reply from Claudia with the outcome of the -*test*-('") yesteday morning.
But I do not understand why they did not post this on HH and HDF as promist they would.
I'm not going to be the one to tell the outcome, I think the responsebility lies with the Himstedt Team.
dollchitchat/AddEmoticons07628.gif I'm very depressed about this and won't post a reply on this message either

I know you will not repy to this, but thanks for the warning. I don't think any of us were expecting "good news". I'm sure they will post something on Monday. I don't think they wanted to be overloaded with weekend emails that they could not handle since they are not there on weekends.

So, as a result of the "tone" of the replies, I'm guessing that the vinyl is flawed in some way. And, in other words, all dolls need to be replaced at some point?

Either way, what's done is done. All we can do is move forward from this point on.

I check mine annually but will probably start doing that twice a year now... unless, of course, I need to send them back for a vinyl change. dollchitchat/AddEmoticons07628.gif

I hope they get back to you asap, Jackie. dollchitchat/323.gif

I don't feel there is a need to panic over this. I think whatever is causing it Himstedt will repair/replace our dolls.
I have also found the start of a spot very faint at the minute on my Thabi on her wrist when moving all my dolls the other day decided to go in for "the look". I am not going to worry about it unless it gets significantly worse, if it were on her face ... that may be a different matter. I have felt all along that this a bit of a time bomb situation I think that probaly a lot more dolls will be affected as time go's on. It could be some type of pigment they use to colour the viny????who knows. I cannot get too woried over this after all they are only dolls and if the factory are replacing the affected parts then all is good. dollchitchat/AddEmoticons0761.gif

I tend to agree, Deb. Little can be achieved at this point by panicking, but I do sympathize with everyone. Hopefully, the company will release a communication about it all very soon. dollchitchat/323.gif

dollchitchat/addemoticons558.gif the result of the -*test*-('") are now posted by the Himstedt Team on HH and HDF.
Claudia said in her e-mail to me last friday that if I wanted a replacement of a head or limb with green dots I had to pay for the repaires and the shipping cost.

I do not understand their results of the -*test*-('"), because I'm very careful with my dolls and they are never in the sun or near a heatsource or in a spotlight.

And if they did replaced my Iva's head would those dots not be there again in 2 years ? I don't see the point in replacing it at all if they do not use a better quality of vinyl dollchitchat/stick.gif

I was afraid that the result would be that cost of repair/replacements would be passed to the customers. Contrary to what was said by Himstedt it does seem to be a high number of doll being affected, and therefore would be very costly for the company to rectify them all.
My Tikiri is still "dotless", but I think it would not bother me as long as her face stays perfect.
Maybe the company should do just that; replace/repair faulty heads at least.

It does surprise me that the company says that heat is the factor. Most dolls lives with us in our homes and most collectors keep their dolls away from any source of heat; be it artificial or natural(as in sunlight).
The factory does not give any guidelines to what temperature is considered "safe". And also; why is the Atlanis dolls from 2005 more prone to damage than those before/after?

This report seem to leave most questions unanswered!

Hugs

Anne

This is very interesting. dollchitchat/AddEmoticons12628.gif

So, HEAT is the reason? Then, what are safe temperatures to store one's doll in? I agree, medici - I have more questions now.
