dollchitchat/AddEmoticons10955.gif Well I just feel like a growl and moan so please bare with me......

I have been suffering now for about eight weeks with a very painfull and swollen knee ( I had an accident on my mobility scooter last year and banged it on a metal post whilst out shopping and chipped my knee) .
After a couple of weeks of bad pain the GP sent me for an X-ray. It came back that I had atheritis in the knee. As I have an allergy to asprin and am asthmatic she wouldnt give me antiinflamitry drus but sujested physio to releave the stiffness so I was FAST TRCKED to a clinic for physio and possibly steroid/pain killing injections. After waiting weeks my appointment arrived only for me to be cancelled the day before as the lady I was to see was sick. I discussed the agony I was now in and the fact that hobbeling about was making my spinal pain worse and she said she would sort out another appointment as quickly as possible for some injections.( I then had to take the in laws to the caravan and suffer on painkilles)

Well I went for the appointment today which took an hour to get to, as it was at the only available clinic. WE ARRIVED. NO XRAY RESULTS. so she didnt know what was wrong with my knee. THEN AFTER PRODDING, POKING, BENDING AND PRESSING IT she anounced I think you would benifit from a steroid injection into the knee. AT LAST I THOUGHT. but I cant do it today, WHAT!!!!!!!!!!
IDONT KEEP THEM HERE, THEY ARE BACK AT THE CLINIC. GRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR
Wouldnt you have thought they might TALK about patients needs. They knew I needed that injection last week. SO NOW I HAVE TO GO BACK ON THURSDAY to have the injection. Another two nights lying awake and now my knee is KILLING ME all for nothing. IS THERE NO ORGANISATION IN THE NHS.
right thats me all moaned out, sorry for that but I feel a bit better getting it off my chest. xxxx dollchitchat/Christo_pull_hair.gif

Oh Gail, bless your heart. How frustrating for you. dollchitchat/dccy.png

In answer to your question No, there is no orginisation. There is just no communication between departments, that is the biggest failing of the NHS these days.

If one department were to communicate with the other, they would all run smoothly. I honesty think our hospitals are a shambles now. When my Dad & later on Mum were in Adenbrookes (supposedly one of the best hospitals in the country) we had exactly the same problems, and now that they both have regular outpatients appointments it just gets worse.

I am sorry you having to go through all this, just to get your knee sorted out...its rubbish isnt it?

I just hope sometime soon they can manage to have all the relevant information to hand to get you some relief & suitable treatment dollchitchat/stick.gif

Oh sweetie I know how you feel...
They prod, poke, push and push...whilst your hanging on the ceiling in pain..
Then decide they can't do this..can't do that...send you away..do nothing.. dollchitchat/stick.gif
I cannot have any pain killers other than bog standard paracetamol...due to asthma and allergic reactions...
They won't give me steroids due to a very weakend immune system and the pneumonia risk with me..(had it 3 times)
I really feel for you hunny....you take care and have a lovely big bar of choccy...won't help with the pain..but it makes you feel better on the inside..

How very frustrating for you, you have certainly been messed about.

Hope you get some relief very soon...and until then take your mind of things by looking at some lovely dollies!

Oh good grief, that is just hopeless. I really do feel for you Gail - I too have aspirin sensitive asthma which is a nuisance to say the least. I hope you get your steroid injection asap. Why can't a GP or someone come to your house? Do they not do rounds any more?
I'm not surprised that you are P****d off - I would be too dollchitchat/Christo_pull_hair.gif dollchitchat/stick.gif dollchitchat/dccy.png

dollchitchat/AddEmoticons07628.gif Oh nooooo Poor you Gail. dollchitchat/dccy.png ..just a word of warning sweetie dollchitchat/AddEmoticons12628.gif ..Ive had these KNEE STEROID INJECTIONS and remember you will not be able to DRIVE straight after having it done and your SUPPOSED to completely rest for quite some hours to allow the stuff to get round the system. dollchitchat/141.gif ..I had BOTH knees done at once..first time was ONE KNEE the amazing relief from pain lasted 18mths-then both KNEES after that cos of my pain and Im getting the right ole niggles in em again-but (DOC said NO MORE!! dollchitchat/AddEmoticons07628.gif dollchitchat/stick.gif )

It wasnt an INSTANT relief but once it KICKED IN OMG I was without that knife pain!! dollchitchat/AddEmoticons12865.gif

This just about sums up the state of our Health Service dollchitchat/Christo_pull_hair.gif -treating you this way-incompetent-muddled and always DELAYS regardless of the suffering the patient is going thro! dollchitchat/Christo_pull_hair.gif dollchitchat/stick.gif dollchitchat/stick.gif

I had mine done at My docs Surgery!! dollchitchat/AddEmoticons12628.gif

I had the injections in my ankles and wrists and like Jack said they tell you to rest up after these injections and not to drive for a few hours.
Of course they only told me that after I had them done so it was lucky my son had dropped me off because the parking is a nightmare or I would have been stuck.
I hope they sort you out and you get the relief you need dollchitchat/bearhugblinkie1.gif
