I am thinking that one reason I don't like my new Mera as much as my old one is because her hair is darker. Maybe if I gave her a few highlights I might like her even more. She has a beautiful face and her hair is okay, but I would love to see it a little lighter in the front. Can anyone tell me how to do this safely or can it be done and has anyone ever done it before?

Any help or input would be great, I certainly don't want to ruin a doll!!

I don't know, but I'm going to be really boring here and say I think your Mera is perfect as she is dollchitchat/141.gif dollchitchat/angel_sm029.gif
A lot of the 2006 dolls are fair or red haired so it is great that Mera is more distinguished and has darker hair with these cool highlights.

hair dye will stain the vinyl, you would have to be very careful, dollchitchat/AddEmoticons12628.gif

dollchitchat/addemoticons558.gif I have dyed a wig before. I took it off the Himmie to do it though. I would recommend having the wig off to do it - if you really want to. Then treat it as you would a human head of hair with a kit. Highlighting kits can be messy and also you cannot be sure what the hair was dyed with before as it is almost certainly asian hair.
I would cut a strand fro the back where it wont show and do a -*test*-('") strip witht the kit first to see how it goes.

If I wanted to add highights to her wig I would remove it and take it to
a beautician. Of course when they color your hair and add higlights they will have to wet the hair. You may lose the crimps....I think I'd leave her hair as is...
JMO. I think she is beautiful as is too!

I have dyed himmie wigs before. You would be surprised how much dye they take!!

You will need to get the wig off, by pulling it from the back. Its REALLY hard to get the first bit loose but once you have and you can get your finger behind it, its much easier.

When you have dyed and dried you can put the crimps back in with a crimping iron.

Remember to condition the hair after.

BIG tip!!!! Keep the hair laid out straight as much as possible when dyeing so it doesn't get into a big matted knot. Apply the dye with a dye brush starting from the top and working down to the end. Make sure the whole wig is saturated with colour, you will need 2 boxes of dye, pay particular attention to the top around the front and down the parting as I know if you miss a little bit it really shows when its dry.

Hope all this helps. Good luck

Just found a picture of my Isis. I changed her hair colour to a few shades darker as I didn't like the light orange against her dark vinyl.

Jackie - I really love Isis ands would love to see more pics of yours.I would love to see more clearly what you have done with her hair as it looks amazing. Isis has the most beautiful aquamarine eyes and such a pretty smiley face!

Personally, I like your Mera as she is, but if it were me and I was determined to make the change I would take the wig to a professional and then have them recrimp it as well after the hair was highlighted.

As for Isis, Jackie, I LOVE her with darker hair! I never considered her before, but now that I see yours I think I could possibly love this doll with a black wig... but I can't go there. No more Himmies! dollchitchat/AddEmoticons07614.gif
