Hi everyone. I have really been bitten by the Himmie bug, I keep looking for THAT one to catch my eye. I think I like Lunna best - but I also like the idea of the much bigger girls too...just cant decide which one.

I just want to know what you think of the Himmies with gold...I think I like the idea of this but is it naff?? rolleyes.gif Would I be better to go for one without do you think.

Is Lunna a more popular one as there seem to be very few for sale on the secondry market (couldnt afford a new Himmie dollchitchat/striste.gif )

Also I think I like the ones with their teeth showing too, which do you think is the nicest? I love Bundi (I think thats her name) The only one I can find is in the states & is over a thousand dollars..imagine the customs on that! dollchitchat/confused0068.gif
Ohhhhh I just cant decide dollchitchat/smilie_help.gif

take your time deciding. Lunna is a good girl to start with as she is cheaper (imagine $300 being cheap! ha) and smaller. There are so many great ones to choose from.

The gold is very subtle, but if you plan to get more than one himmie (ie from other years) it may be best to go without gold so they will blend in....that is what I found. Some have more gold than others. My Iva had hardly any and blended quite fine.

Whomever you choose i am sure you will love them to bits. the teeth thing it completely a preferrence I think. I prefer no teethy but others love teeth!

Bunda is one of those elusive gals...but not so much as Mithi and Linn etc.

Good luck and keep us posted as to who you choose as your first....there are bouynd to be more,.......hee hee

Hugs

Elisabeth

dollchitchat/Love-Bear.gif Hi Jen,

I can only tell you what I learnt along the way....I started with the smaller himmies which would be about Lunna's size (cos I thought gosh 30-31 inches tall!!) but then I got 32-33 and then a 34 I then found I REALLY liked the slightly taller girls.

Smiling teeth or not personally depends on you-Bunda I hear has slightly crooked teeth? Whereas Merete etc have lovely teeth.

the gold aspect is a matter of personal taste-I have both some gold some without!

Try to AVOID USA/Canada if you can cos CUSTOMS can really hammer up the price and you are then facing not only shipping (huge) but a nasty ole bill from Customs and of course a small delay too? dollchitchat/stick.gif

If you can buy UK or EUROPE postage is better and quicker too!
There are a couple of superb 2006 Atlantis Himmies on ebay UK at the mo-check them out- if you save the pic of ones you like to your pc-you can then go into that and zoom in and out and really have a good old nose at the girl!! dollchitchat/141.gif biggrin.gif

Hope Ive helped not confused you hun?HUGS JACK dollchitchat/Love-Bear.gif

Well.....Elisabeth and Jacks have said it all!! If you've been bitten by the bug you'll end up looking at hundreds of them before making your choice. I have 4 (can't afford anymore right now) and I love each of them to bits (Greta & Pauline 04, Arapati 05, Lilia 06) Good luck and keep us updated. dollchitchat/x6.gif dollchitchat/merryxmas_fig.gif

Hi Jen, dollchitchat/angel_sm029.gif dollchitchat/AddEmoticons12865.gif
I am so glad that we have another person with the Himmie disease.!!!!

You will learn a lot by watching e.bay and the forums the Atlantis girls 2006 are a great buy at the moment, if you want to keep some value in your dolls go for ones with unchanged hair and original clothes if possible, of course if they are changed does not mean there is anything wrong with them but that should reflect in the price.! The less popular dolls are a good buy ( if you like them) just remember that Lunna and Nula and Mava and Nuala were not very expensive to begin with.! Lunna is tiny though if you like petite she is gorgeous and her twin Nula.

The gold no gold issue was a big thing early last year but I can say I ordered my new dolls without gold ( and still prefer that) but have a couple of the gold version and in some dolls it is prettier. I would definitely not be put off buying a doll because of the gold it does show up a lot in photo's but not in natural light. If you like big Tulani and Thabi are great girls that go fairly cheap and you get a lot of beautiful , although serious doll for your money.
You need to start somewhere as it is not until you have had one or two that you start to learn which ones you really love.!

I have Bunda too she is gorgeous , she does have a very dark skin tone which does not appeal to everyone I like it it suits her. I will say just beware of who you buy from on e.bay most sellers are great but there are a few........

So look forward to seeing who you decided on.!

Himstedt dolls are wonderful and I think it is very wise of you to ask advice before you just jump in.

As mentioned here, most of the dolls are a matter of taste. I also preferred the 2006 dolls without the gold paint.

Bunda is a wonderful doll with a great smile. I also have her and she is somewhat tough to find since she holds her popularity very well along with Ai Lien, Mithi, and Ilai which are all from the 2005 collection.

If you have any questions about any seller or doll I am sure anyone here will be willing to help if they can.

Hi,

Just wanted to add my two penni'worth!!!!

I have gold and no gold 2006 dolls, and they are all gorgeous, I really love the 2006's, and you can buy them at really good prices at the moment, on ebay and here on the forum. I redress my gold himmies just the same as I would the no gold, as others have said it doesn't really show up in natural light, infact I sometimes have to take the doll outside to see if she is with or without the gold paint. The only doll that seems to have a lot of gold on her lips is Tulani and Thabi, so I opted for no gold with her.

Have you got a 2006 catalogue??? if not, let me know as I have one spare. There's nothing better than a good himmie catalogue to send you off to sleep at night!!!!!! dreaming of the dolls you want to buy

Hi - I to would also like to add my 2p worth, I have over 30 Himmies, I actually had reborns for a couple of years and I still have about 5 that I could not do without - then along came a Himmie and that was it! dollchitchat/sign07.gif

I prefered the 2005 and went mad on them, I had twin Katiinas, twin Marthy's I have Mithi, Ilia, Yugang and had Ai Lien. I also started with the smaller Himmies, the earlier models had the cloth covered mechanism which proved a problem when I wanted to make their cloths dainty with see thru sleeves etc - so it was I started looking around for more 2005.

The 2006 did not tempt me at first, then along came Lisa Lu, Tula and Aleta and I was shocked to find they had thin arms! maybe I am a "chubby" Himmie collector but they just did not do it for me to be honest, pretty faces mind, lovely hair as usual.

Now I find I simply love the 2007's girls. Tobe honest, and it's only my opinion, I think AH went mad in 2006 with all those dolls and their double head usage! there were too many and now they are not holding their price on Ebay - the 2005 seem to and I guess the new 2007's will to I feel.

It's all a personal thing so don't go off the deep end at my comments, I just felt that I need to voice my opinion - and it is only an opinion.

Take up the offer of the 2006 catalogue and get to know what you like and dislike - I myself just love 2005 and 2007 girls.

Good luck on choosing a Himmie but be warned, once you buy one you will want more! and more!

Thanks for all your replies & helpful advice...I have still not decided which to go for though!
I think I prefer the lighter skin tones with blond hair, & really love Nula's face with or without gold...but still not sure about the size & am wondering if I should hold off till I have saved a little more money & invest in the larger size dollchitchat/thinking.gif

I'm quite surprised about this since usually I see a doll I like instantly & go for it...the problem is that there are just too many nice ones & too much choice! dollchitchat/Christo_pull_hair.gif dollchitchat/Christo_pull_hair.gif

Oooh This is so fascinating!!
What do you all mean "gold or no gold!" Where's the gold?!?
I think Himmies are stunning - the ultimate doll collectors dream, surely! But I have no room in my house or budget yet. But I'd love to learn more!
I've never even seen one in real life!

In 2006 AH produced her Atlantis collection of Himstedt Kinder where each one had gold dots on their faces.
There was uproar since some didn't want the gold and certain people were worried about the gold damaging the doll etc so some were produced without gold.
So if anyone was to buy a Himstedt from 2006 you might want to ask with or without gold.
The 2006 Summer Kinder did not have gold it was only the Himstedt Kinder.
If you click on the link below then enlarge one of the pics you can see the gold on the dolls faces.
