dollchitchat/addemoticons558.gif Hi it is not silly, I am no expert but I have had a few from different years. They vary in size but are generally 'toddlers'. Have a good browse on Annettes website to see links are on here in for sales and in Himstedt section. You will see the different sizes and poses. They are Vinyl but a really lovely quality, they are hand painted and have hand blown glass eyes. They usually have human hair. Their look is quite unique. I love them all but they got more realistic I think around 2004/5 onwards and bigger generally I think. Often when the new ones come out there are bargains on the secondary market as people want money and room for their la-*test*-('").
So browse decide the ones you like and you could get a good deal from a seller on here for a previous years doll.
Good luck.
dollchitchat/angel_sm029.gif I am sure an expert will tell you more dollchitchat/angel_sm029.gif

Ohhhh Noooo Sal----don't go there.... You are already addicted to silicones....
and Himmies are just as addictive. dollchitchat/141.gif I know all about it...Didn't even
like the first ones I saw back in 1997..... Until......I saw a couple of the 1998's
at a doll shoppe... Fell head over heels in love with Baby Lieschen "HAD TO HAVE"
her.... dollchitchat/2.gif Got her in 1999 and have gotten about a dozen since...Now
have two "lieschens' cause the old one wasn't looking too perfect anymore
Kept putting her in a box.. to keep her nice. and then taking her out dollchitchat/morevdayb2.gif
There is a whole doll site devoted to Himstedts... Himstedtheaven.com and
many himmie dollie addicts visit and live there. dollchitchat/141.gif They also have a doll
gallery...You can see 'all' the dolls for the past...I don't know ten or so years..
They aren't cheap but as Ruth said,, you can find most of them except
the 'hot-*test*-('")' dolls at reduced prices... Annette Himstedt probably sells
more dolls than anyone..Not only is she very creative and talented
even designing all her kids and babies special unique outfits... but
she is a great businesswoman.... dollchitchat/141.gif I have all of her vinyl babies.
She made around eight or so ... That's all in a twenty some year period
of making dolls...Go have a look around their doll gallery etc... if you
want a feel... But of course there is also a Himstedt site here on D.C.C.
as I'm sure you've discovered... I love the ones I haVe but for the past
two and a half years have been too much of a silicone baby addict
to have much interest in anyh other dolls.. It's a full time job obsessing
over all the silicone dolls,, the ones I have and the new ones that keep
coming out. dollchitchat/angel_sm029.gif .. that I can't afford.. dollchitchat/stick.gif Hugs KAT

You may want to do a bit of research. I would recommend doing the following:

1) Look at the Himstedt website. The url is www.annettehimstedt.com. This site will show you most dolls and give you a general idea of sizes and some details. Please note, though, that dolls can look VERY different from the "catalogue pictures" on this website. And... DON'T BUY ANYTHING YET. dollchitchat/AddEmoticons07635.gif

2) Go to a very informative website at www.himstedtheaven.com. There is a doll gallery that shows you all years and ocassionally has real life pictures in addition to the catalogue pictures.

3) Go to the Himstedt section on this forum. Read the information section before reading the new posts. There are two Himstedt forums and I would recommend reading the first one first and then the second.

My only advice about collecting these dolls is the following:

a) Be aware that real-life pictures will tell you a lot more than the catalogue pictures. Buy dolls based on the real-life pictures only.
b) Buy the doll you REALLY want because YOU love it. Don't buy into the hype. These dolls get better and better over time.
c) Be aware that there is only one Himstedt dealer in Australia and that individual has a monopoly. It may be best to buy from the secondary market or the Himstedt factory direct or a US dealer, but it will depend on shipping costs. Do your research and hunt for the best price if you do take the plunge.
d) Be patient. Certain characteristics reoccur every year. If you love a doll from 2005 that is no longer available chances are there is a similar type of doll in later years. Don't rush in.

There is a lot of information on Himstedts, but first decide what it is you want. Then, find the doll that best fits that desire.

Have fun! dollchitchat/bearthrowingkisses.gif
