Our beautiful wonderful flat has Rising damp. we found a wet patch on the hall carpet that just got bigger and bigger, and then another one, so hubby pulled up the carpet and there it was, two enormous wet patches. we had the surveyer in this morning about choosing tiles for our wet room, and we showed him the plastered walls around some of the skirting and the wet patches, he said "Yep rising damp." His going to get the other surveyor to come look and do something about it. I hope it's just a ase of central heating instaed of storage heating.
When we moved here in Febuary we didn't see no damp and had none over the spring or summer, now we are heading for winter we have it, and hubby has just spotted another patch that could be the same in the living room. dollchitchat/Christo_pull_hair.gif dollchitchat/Christo_pull_hair.gif

Elsphnt our block of flats is built over a very small canal, but a canal none the less. that flows under the ground under the flats. there are about twenty flats here, ours is a ground floor flat. and they are supposed to do something put something to stop the canal water coming up, we have very thick concrete, but as you know congrete will just soak water up, so there is supposed to be something between the canel and the concrete, but it isn't working, so the concrete is soaking up the canal water, well I suppose it is Canal water. when we moved in it was completely dry, no damp anywhere. now we have two large patches in the hall way, and we think one in the living room. hubby has taken up half the hall way carpet. we have the heating on and hopefully that will dry it. dollchitchat/AddEmoticons12628.gif

We were ttold by the surveyer that a couple from another block had to move out for two weeks while their whole flat was damp proofed. dollchitchat/Christo_pull_hair.gif I hope we don't have to do that. dollchitchat/stick.gif

oh i do sympathise, we had damp all over our kitchen floor, ruined the vynolay, in the end we painted waterproof paint over it as there was no clues to where it was coming from, i just hope it doesnt come thru again. dollchitchat/angel_sm029.gif
