Well, I have finally admited that I need to loose weight. I am 5ft (just) & though I havent weighed myself for several months I must be over 11st, which makes me look like an oompa loompa or one of ken dods diddymen!

So, once the new year is here I want to join a slimming club - I have done weight watchers & reached my gold three times, but just end up putting it back on & more!
I thought I would try slimmingworld - I dont know anything much about it except that you have differnt food groups on different days?

Have any of you girls been to slimming world (or any club that you think is worth a try)? I would appreciate hearing your opinions please.
Thanks
Jenx

Hi Jen,
I'm with you on that one........desperate to loose some weight.
I like Slimming World, although when I follow the plan I stick to the red days as they suit me better. You can eat unlimited lean meat , fish etc, but bread, potatoes and rice etc are restricted, you can have them but not so readily.
Let me know when you start

Julie, NO BREAD!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I cant live without it dollchitchat/Christo_pull_hair.gif dollchitchat/Christo_pull_hair.gif It sounds like the Atkins diet??

I lost loads on the Atkins about 5 years ago, but started to get chest pains & other problems....but I missed the stodge so much, bread & potaoes are probably the reason I have grown so big. dollchitchat/Christo_pull_hair.gif

Stacey is going to take a weekly photo of me, so that I can see the improvements as I go. The other complication is the excerise, I hate it!! I like to swim - but our pool is about to close for 12months for refurbishment, the next nearest is about 40mins away, so I cant see me bothering with that!

Why couldnt I have stayed the size 8 I was when I married?? I used to eat anything & everything & never gain an ounce laugh.gif

Jen, I'm an expert on diets having tried and failed at all of them over the years! I too need to lose weight but I'm just going to work at changing my diet back to what it was around 10 years ago. I was thinking of joining Slimming World also.

Anyhow, Slimming World works like this. You have a choice of Red days or Green days. On both days there is unlimited food, it just varies depending on the day you choose. On red day you can have unlimited meat and fish and a measured amount of potatoes, pasta etc. On green days your unlimited food is starches like potatoes or pasta or rice. On both days you have 'healthy extras' which is where your bread comes in, along with cereals, dairy and cheese. In practice what you need to do is fill up on the unlimited food, and eat your healthy extras. So you can have a massive bowl of vegetable pasta bake on a green day, or you could eat a lovely roast dinner with tons of meat and veg, and a measured amount of potatoes. A favourite green day meal of mine was SW chips, baked in the oven, with egg and beans. You have syns to spend on the treats in life too. I found with SW there isn't the restriction there is with WW, and you don't get hungry, but you need to plan ahead which isn't my best skill lol!

WW are now offering a similar plan, where you can eat unrestricted off a list of foods, but there is no bread at all on this plan whereas SW allow bread in the healthy extras.

dollchitchat/pompomgirl.gif I'm going on a diet after Xmas too, need to lose about 3 stone! I've been on almost every diet going but the best one was Rosemary Conley's. I lost over 2 stone and it was easy to follow. Good luck dollchitchat/Love-Bear.gif Lynette

Thanks everyone. I think that by the sound of it slimmingworld is the one to try....I need some stodge & it seems like this is allowed even if in smaller portions than I am used to...

Does the rosemary conelly one include aerobics? - cant do that! My sense of rythm & timing never seems to match the rest of the class. I always end up faciing the wrong way or cocking the wrong leg laugh.gif

Right I now need to find my nearest class...

And yes Elijafan I HATE that you can much jaffa cakes all day & stay size 8 dollchitchat/Christo_pull_hair.gif ITS NOT FAIR!!!!! laugh.gif

Jenx

On a green day, you can have mega-huge portions of carbs, so you won't be hungry.

Yes RC has aerobics, but it is very basic, but I found on that plan I was STARVING and I'm not good when I'm hungry!

If you have a WII game, it comes with a sports game, with I think 5 or 6 different games, including Golf and Tennis, great games and you got to move to do the games, a great work out and in the long run cheaper than a gym and you do it in your own home, we got one and it's great, But we lost the game while I was away at my parents, it's here some where. Not the WII but the sports disk is missing. dollchitchat/Christo_pull_hair.gif
