Helen- 07-27-2008
Have been reading lots of topics on this forum and am hoping i will be able to post my success story soon. Not that i have started eating healthily all the time! I eat healthy food, but my sweet tooth means i eat lots of sugary foods too.

I swim everyday with my sister, but i eat much more than i burn off so am not loosing weight. Have weighed what i do now for over a year and NEED and WANT to loose all this extra weight and flab.

Does anyone have any oggd suggestions on how to get my sugar fix without eating sugar? ( is that even possible?!)

From tomorrow, i am going to cut out all my sugar and see how i manage. I think i will have to start the gym too as swimming won't tone up my flab once i loose the weight i don't think.

Thanks for listening to my weight woes.
Love Helen dollchitchat/morevdayb2.gif

Helen....you have just written my story dollchitchat/2.gif Until the bit about joining a gym dollchitchat/AddEmoticons07628.gif

I have been with weightwatchers for a while now & find that it is the only way I can loose weight...I have lost countof the times I have tried to do it myself, but without the weekly weigh in I just cheat!!

I bought myself the Wii fit game & find this is the only excersise I have ever stuck with...I am not in the least sporty or competitive, but the Wii is great, I can keep a check on my BMI & use it as much or as little as I want to, with no one breathing down my neck or watching me dollchitchat/4.gif dollchitchat/4.gif

Its been about four months since I rejoined weightwatchers & I am on my way to loosing 2stone now.

As for the sweet tooth, I now only allow myself a chocolate bar after weigh in on wednesday & to be honest I dont really miss or crave it at other times dollchitchat/Christo_pull_hair.gif

Basically I reckon you have to reach a stage where you want to loose the weight & are determined to do it...otherwise you just kid yourself & dont stick to a diet properly dollchitchat/AddEmoticons07628.gif

Hi Helen, I have a theory that if you go cold turkey and cut out your sugary stuff you will stop craving it (it is an addiction, I believe).
This may not apply to you, but I've read that some people eat so much of the wrong things that the cravings they experience are the body crying out for better nutrition.
It seems ironic, but overweight people can be quite malnourished.

I would think grazing (little & often) on high quality nutritious foods is the way to go.
Now....must practice what I preach!
Good luck!

Have you tried using Canderell or Splenda...? They are fantastic 'sugar substitutes' yet hardly any calories at all! You can even cook and bake with them too! Give them a try and see how you get on I swear by them...good luck! xx

water water and more water! That was what I have been told. I am trying to drink as much as possible...and cut down on salts to get my BP under control as well weight. I just need to lose about 10 pounds...maybe less....but I cant excersize until I get the BP and shock thing under control...so my diet is LOTS of WATER! hahahahaha (cant seem to cut out my coffee though!)

Hugs and good luck ladies

Elisabeth

Helen it's good to be doing it with someone else, but if that isn't possible then rest assured we are here for you. dollchitchat/141.gif
I have been losing weight as you have probably read. this is what I have found helps

having our main meal in the middle of the day, stops us snacking through the afternoon.
instead of sugar in coffee we have been having a chocolate flavor syrup, just gorgeous.
dollchitchat/141.gif
having our main meal in the middle of the day we then have a small tea in the evening, fruit or apple crumble, yogurt, not all these in one evening lol, this evening we had apple crumble with a chocolate mouse, but we shared one portion between the both of us.
also only put on your plate what you know you can eat comfortably, once your comfortably full, don't eat any more.
we walk a lot to.
going cold turkey with sweets and cakes is a great idea, after a few days you don't desire it as much.
I used to swim three to four times a week and it is great for toning up muscles and helps burn up fat, it is a great all round exercise. so keep at it. dollchitchat/1.gif

Hi Helen, good luck with your dieting, it can be very hard to start with. Dont end up like I did (Diabetes caused by being overweight) I wouldnt have known, but Iwas admitted to hospital in an emergency, and they found it within 10 minutes of me being admitted. It was a terrible shock, and I have had to lose 3 stone in 5 months. It really has been a WAKE UP CALL. Take care and keep at it. dollchitchat/bearhugblinkie1.gif Sheila.

Sheila- sorry to hear of your diabetes.... Sounds like you lost
a lot o weight.
How much is three STONE.. is that sixty pounds? Congratulations..

Congrats to all of you highly motivated ladies!! I'm not.
Big part of the problem is that I have M.E. which is worsened
by exercise. ALso living alone.... I just finished having my evening
snack... which consisted of a candy bar and bag of Fritos corn chips. dollchitchat/2.gif
Munch, munch munch a bunch of Fritos corn chips.. It's not polite
to smack your lips but that wont happen with Fritos Corn Chips.
That's the song from the Commercial from about forty years ago.. dollchitchat/2.gif
Sorry I'm setting a bad example. I'll just mosey my bad self off this
post...

Good Luck and carry on the good work ladies... dollchitchat/bearhugblinkie1.gif Hugs KAT
