I hope you have seen Marion's post about her Suki's new face-up, well i want to ask about the manicure, what would i need to buy to do that on my girls, can you use the real stuff or is there proper paint for it, if you can use the real stuff, does it have to be acetone and all that corrosive stuff, free.
I really love the effect, it completely changes the hands and feet dollchitchat/morevdayb2.gif dollchitchat/vdaybouncies3.gif dollchitchat/morevdayb2.gif

Hi Linda,
I'm not sure if you can use the real stuff for a manicure, the people I know who have done anything like that have always just used acrylic and pastles. Anything you use on BJD's has to be acetone free.
Hope that helps ^^

Thanks 'H' i thought it would have to be acetone free.
So if i want to do it, and i think i would use the acrylics/pastels to be on the safe side, can anyone who knows, please let me know what i will need to buy, bearing in mind i have nothing of any artist type stuff, so what paint brushes and what size, what type of acrylics and pastels and how do i use them, also do you have to seal them to stop it coming off, if so what do i need for that too dollchitchat/confused0068.gif sorry for all the questions dollchitchat/2.gif

You can use a chemical called Mr Super Clear to seal the face ups or any painting done of the BJD's. It's very hard to get hold of though so good luck with that.
You don't have to use it but the painting will chip of scratch with out it.

I have seen actual acrylics made sold by the BJD companies but as far as I'm aware they're the same as the ones you can buy in stationary box. Same for the pastles, they're just the regular power pastles.

Hello :)
I use acrylic paints for the color and an acrylic gloss sealer for mani and pedi cures. I use the spray sealers for face ups and body blushing but not for the nails. it is such a small area that as long as you paint only on the nail beds it should not be an issue. Makes it easy to change as well if you want to change the look/color. Just be *very* careful not to get the remover past the nailbed or you will take off the all-over sealer spray.
QZ :)
