| Shawna i just looked again and i still can't see Ashienne in the f-20 mold! If i had to choose one i probably would have said f-20 but yours looks wayyyy cuter and younger. This is the thing i love the most about the bjds i think, the transformation, its astounding! I read on the site you have to go to the shop to order and choose, and how you are treated by the staff there, how cool is that, and a very rare thing indeed, anyone would think you were buying a top of the range sports car instead of doll!. How far are you away from Volks? Is this the place you have to catch the train too and get there very early, dolpha????????? Is this the the place you took all the pics at????? Yes i can certainly see now why this company is held in such high regard! Off to look at the F-18 |

The headmolds look COMPLETELY different without make-up, Cindy. It's extraordinary how a subtle make-up difference can completely transform the doll. I could look at the naked (unpainted) headmold and go "ew" and then see it painted in a particular way an have it knock me socks off. It's pretty cool! Tenshi-No-Sato (or any Volks location for some models) is in Kyoto, about an hour and a half away by train. It is where I took the pictures of Ashienne with the fish and stuff. The atmosphere is VERY cool!!! And the customer service? Fabulous. They fixed my Ashienne's stringing for free. The Dolpa shows are in Osaka, Kyoto and Tokyo. I didn't go to the Osaka one this year, but I went in 2007. In 2008, I went to the Kyoto show. The Dolpa shows are usually held in hotels with conference centers since thousands of people will go. The appeal of Dolpa is not so much the limited editions released by Volks, I think. I go for the private seller booths where they sell outfits (like the ones I have for Ashienne). I think the outfits and the accessories (including food, stuffed animals and eyes and the like) is really what is best about the shows. There is no doubt that Volks is kind of a snobbish company with the attitude of "We are the best", however, I think in some ways their positive reputation is well-deserved. Even though my Japanese is limited, I have always felt very welcome when I go there. I actually really enjoy it and am thinking I might go on my birthday since it's a national holiday here and Tenshi No Sato should be open. My only fear is that I will buy another FCS as a birthday present instead of waiting to see the Angel series. |
