dollchitchat/animal-smiley-027.gif My friend Fay's cat has been Killed bt a staffordshire bull terrier dollchitchat/AddEmoticons07628.gif

She has Two 15yr old cats.Thursday evening she put them out as normal before calling them in for the night.Boots (named for his four white feet ) didn't come back.Next morning she was up at 6:30 calling him. At 7:15 the chap from four houses down came and described Boots to her and then went on to say that at approx 10:15 the previous evening his wife heard a nose looked out the bedroom window to see a youth walking his dog (not on a lead) get hold of the cat and you can quess what happened, the lad carried on and just shouted for the dog to put down the cat and made no attempt to save Boots. The neighbour (who is getting on) crawled under a van where Boots had crawled and managed to get a hold and take him inside his home. After calling out the RSPCA they arrived and had to put Boots to sleep. To cut a long story short the RSPCA man came in the afternoon with Boots in his van for Fay to see him if she wanted to.

Boots's injuries were -- a broken front leg--a totally smashed back leg--puncture wounds and internal injuries.

Poor Fay is so upset at loosing him and about the awfull way he died.Luckily he was seen and helped and not left out all night under the van

These people are sisk dollchitchat/stick.gif

I don't blame the dog as my daughter has a Staffy and she is so soft

I blame the owners who think it's great to have a HARD dog

dollchitchat/32.gif What goes round comes round and I hope that owner gets his just deserts dollchitchat/32.gif

Oh hun I am so sorry hear this...
It happend to us about 3 years ago....it was to a very old gentle cat (but his owners didn't give two hoots about him he was out in ALL weathers)..
He spent most of his time here with us...but would never come in..
He was killed by a pit bull X staffie...we even knew where it lived...they just left him to die on his own after being torn to bits by this demon dog.
Two weeks later further down in the next road...the same people set the dogs on another cat..again an elderly cat..
We still miss him..poor Minn...such a horrid way to die..
It took all my strenght to stop Simon going around to their house to do the same to them...
The dogs have since disapeared thankfully....we think they might have been involved in dog fighting...as they always looked battered...and ready to attack anything in sight..
One of them even knocked Simon almost over...as they were never on leads.
I am so sorry for your friend...I really feel for her...please give her our best wishes and thoughts..
We have just lost our old Barney a few weeks ago..so I know how she must be feeling...

How awful and how horrible that people are so ignorant and just let their dogs do such nasty things - I am so sorry for your friend having lost their sweet cat that way!!!! dollchitchat/bearhugblinkie1.gif

I wish it was legal to put these owners in with wild cats, a good mauling from a big cat might make the imbeciles see sense dollchitchat/Christo_pull_hair.gif Even if a dog of mine got a cat by accident I would never leave it. That is the one thing I don't like about any terrier breed, they are ratters it's in them and you can never be 100% certain about them. I have a staff who lives with two cats but she'd chase other cats. My other one was cross staff but she was very gentle anything caught was licked senseless as the kittens could -*test*-('")ify dollchitchat/2.gif she managed to get attacked by a white cat, it took a lot of persuading and an action replay by the cat to prove who was the aggressor. She used to dumbfound cats, they'd stop in their tracks wondering what was going on......... I used to shout leave it and she just stood and looked, one cocky one over my brother's way used to saunter over to her till his dog came out ....... she wasn't so well trained and gave a woof. dollchitchat/4.gif

Will you pass on my sympathy to your friend, please? She must be SO upset. As a dog lover, tales like this anger me so much - it's nearly always the owners who are at fault, and when I'm out walking my dogs, I can always tell from a distance which other dogs will be a problem just by looking at their owner. Fortunately, there are more good dogs than bad, but that's no consolation I know. dollchitchat/bearthrowingkisses.gif

OMG that is the most awful thing to happen. The owners of these dogs should be put down, its their fault for not training the dogs right.
I've not long lost my beloved cat, and never knew what killed him, but if I thought this had happened to him I would be totally totally distraught about it. And my son was savaged by a mastiff a few years ago, he has 32 scars to remind him of the worst day of our lives ever. I just so wish the law would completely clamp down on the people who let their dogs do these tragically awful things.

Stafordshire Bull Terriers are also known as Nanny Dogs due to their kind and loving nature. They are wonderful pet and family dogs. Its the idiot on the other side of the lead that could do with the training. !!!! So many bull breeds are judged by their apearance and not by their nature. Its a sad case that the most common dog in rescue is a staffy.

I say have the owner PTS and NOT the dog. !!!!!

It was very kind of the neighbour to take the cat in and look after it till help can be found.Theres not many like him around.
At least the cat didnt die alone and in agony.I am so sorry to hear this sad story.RIP little cat. dollchitchat/angel_sm029.gif

dollchitchat/bearhugblinkie1.gif and your friend

I went cold reading that...it brought back memories of when I was about ten, I was outside my grans' house (which was on a main road) . A man went past with 2 greyhounds, which were on leads, but they spotted the cat from a few doors down which was crouched frozen in fear I think by their front gate.
The dogs went crazy , breaking off their leads and sadly, horrifically, tore the cat up between them.

Greyhounds can make lovely pets...my son had a Staffie who was as soft as butter with humans. But some dogs have this killer instinct inside and I agree it is upto the owners to make sure no harm comes to anyone or any pet ect

Very sad to lose a much loved pet in this way, please pass on my heartfelt sympathy to your friend

Linda

You know, I grew up in an area where if someone's dog didn't stay home it was shot. It is simply too dangerous to have one's dog romping around the countryside creating mischief on other people's property. But that was the countryside.

It is unfortunate dog owners bring these aggressive breeds into city limits - period. I don't care how good the owners are or how closely the dog is monitored. It only takes seconds for something like this to happen. And, if it happened to my pet, hello shotgun and good-bye dog.

I could understand if the cat had run onto someone else's property and the dog was in "protect" mode, but out on the street in a public place under the "supervision" of an owner? No. No excuses. That dog needs to be put down, because next time it could be a child.

I once took in a dog for fostering. She was a beautiful collie cross german shepherd *****.She was so friendly and shy.We noticed she started getting agressive over a period of a couple of days so we took her to the vets to see if anything was wrong. He couldnt find anything wrong with her at all so we bought her home again. She was great with my kids and family but started getting really overprotective of her family and home. She went to bite the postman, growled at a vistor and then the last straw was when she went to bite a child who had put her hand through the gate to stroke her.She was PTS.
I couldnt risk this happenng again to anyone and she couldnt possibly be rehomed due to her behaviour. Its a sad situation but it does happen and i couldnt take that risk.We found she was a failed poice dog due to agression problems. She had been taken from a home where she had been beaten and abused. Its not the dogs fault but she couldnt go on like that.No one would rehome her and she would of been left to life of misery in a dog pen all her life.
