Hi,
I have a query lol. I am looking for a BJD but don't want to spend a lot incase they turn out not to be my thing. I have been looking on ebay to see if I can find a cheap(ish) one, or the parts for one as I am rather arty and would love to "make" my own.
I have found this one:
http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?Vie...DME:X:RTQ:UK:11
I wondered whether it was perhaps one of the vinyl ones and so I asked the seller who said:

Hi,
Thank you for your question.
The doll is made out of Resin. The shipping cost to UK is 30$.You can receive it within one week after cleared payment.
Best regards.
Alan

I thought it would have been much more expensive made out of resin or am I wrong?
Also, I cannot find any heads for this size, could someone please tell me where is a good place to find reasonable ones?

Thank you so much dollchitchat/pompomgirl.gif

Beverly ~

I have bought from that seller and just bought another body from him. What you are bidding on is the body only and it is a MSD size. No head. Angel of Dream dolls are very good quality for the money.

My advice to you would be to save up a bit and buy one that you absolutely adore. If you just buy one to "see," I can almost guarantee that you will be reselling it at a future date. Depending on the size, you should be able to find one between $300 and $500 dollars.

Don't buy one that you can live with...buy one you can't live without!

(If this is overwhelming, you are 100% perfectly normal! The BJD world is a vast one and starting out is extremely confusing!)

Good luck ~

Mary

This is an Angel of Dream doll and they sell complete dolls. Another cheap site is Bobobie.com. Again, very good quality dolls for a cheap price. Not all heads will fit on all bodies, so I wouldn't recommend you try this until you get a bit more knowledgable about BJD's...Even the old-timers have trouble with that one! I would recommend you buy a complete doll, with faceup, for your first doll. If you want some sites to visit, PM me and I'd be happy to suggest some.

I agree Mary, definaly look for that one, THE ONE, there will be one out there ^^

It can be confusing when you first start out looking at all the different dolls and companies.
Trying to match a head any body can be very difficult especially if you're going for a body and a head from different companies as all the skin tones are different from one another, you could buy a body from one company skin tone normal and a head from another skin tone normal and they will be a complete miss match.

The stringing can be fiddly especially if the body isn't strung and comes in parts, that's something to look out for aswell.
I have just re-strung my first bjd in preparation for doing a body transplant and it wasn't fun lol

Re-sale value for BJD is very good aswell, no one expects to pay much less then what the doll was originally bought for, 98% of bjd's on the second hand market are sold at the same price they were new. So if you did shell out on the one you really want to have and decide you don't want it for what ever reason you will always get your money back. So there isn't really anything to loose in that aspect ^^

If you have any more questions just give us a shout Mary and myself are always around to lend a hand ^^
