anyone have one of the Goodreau Vinyl BJD's?

I am thinking I might like to try a BJD and these seem like an affordable option for me.

Anyone have any or any opinions about them....feel free to post.

TIA

I don't have one, but I think there are a few on here who might...I think Tina was selling one...

My only advice to you would be not to judge BJD's from the vinyl type alone...vinyl is just so much different than the resin...Until you have held and posed a resin BJD, you won't have the "whole picture" of the BJD world. Not to say that there is anything wrong with the vinyl, but I am a fan of the resin only. It's hard to explain, but there is a big difference to me between the 2 kinds.

The Goodreau dolls are more white european looking I think. There are a huge amount of msd size dolls in all price brackets so do your research first!. I'm thinking of getting a vinyl one to see what they are like.

I have a vinyl and a resin Goodreau :) I also have other Resin BJD. The vinyl is great for sewing. She is a size comparable to many of the popular resins so is sturdier for ffittings. She is good for travel too as we do not have to worry about faceplants or finger snaps :B
There are still many nice little resin dolls at afforable prices now- Fantasy Doll and Bobobbie and Orietndoll and Dollzone among many , have some nicely sized dolls at affordable prices (I am thinking around $100- gads when did that become 'affordable'?!) :D
All of them have somehting unique to offerr, so it really depends on what you are looking for- do you want someone to dress a lot, to play with hair and facepaint, do you want someone to take everywhere or someone to wear one or two especially nice outfits in displays? All of these have dolls that are perfect for them :)

Which vinyl to you have?? Can I ask how the joints feel in comparison to the resin? I'm not so keen on the resin movements, finding them 'clunky' and kicky, and was wondering if the vinyl joints are more like a fashion doll's movements such as Ellowyne??

I have been trawling the internet looking at them (how sad am I?!!) and have found some lovely 'enhanced' ones... I still wonder about ordering one... this is one I found I think they are both lovely

There is also a Goodreau yahoo group, with lots of pics of both resin and vinyl

I am on the Yahoo group :) You may see some of my pics on there. Paulette gooreau was at a local doll show with her mom and sis and was super nice - my dd just loves her :)
I have a vinyl Innuendo and a resin Whipser or secret- I am so bad at names!). I removed the resin face and redid it myself but have not redone the vinyl .

The joints on the vinyl are very different- not really ball joint per say. I would not consider them a ball joint doll in the same way as the Asian ball joint dolls. The resins feel and move like the abjd. Kinda hard to 'splain :)

The only problem i have with our resin is that some of the dolls have a jutting chin problem and she has it. I work around it but I don't like it, makes pics much more difficult to get a natural look.

The vinyl poses like a dream and holds her pose very well. I want the resin to have the vinyl poseability :)

The joints on both- the edge of the kneees and elbows bits are a bit sharp. That is where the double jointed bjd have an edge, a much smoother look.

She has a lot more dolls coming out, including some cute little animal bjd. Several of my friends bought them at the show- her booth (she was sponsored by a local doll shop) was jammed the entire show. She also does the snappy dolls- their clothes fit some of our other bjd :)

I have pics from the show here-

see the first two albums, I am pretty sure I have a few shiots of her otehr new dolls in there somewhere :)

Thanks for that info! Make sure you spam us with some pics on here please dollchitchat/141.gif

I think I've tracked down a vinyl Secret at Joyces Dolls dollchitchat/pompomgirl.gif I want her to make clothes for and the fact she'll hold her poses sounds ideal to me! I love my tiny resin abjd's but don't think the bigger ones are for me.. I do love Goodreau's resin boys though, and am hoping she'll bring them out in vinyl...

I have 6 of the Vinyl Goodreau BJD's and the cost of these dolls are what made me choose this medium. I prefer the look of the resin but being a klutz, I was scared of fingers being popped off or hitting them on anything. I like them for the gothic look that these dolls have and just love the Goodreau ready made outfits designed for these dolls. Sort of like instant gratification to me. These dolls do hold their pose very well. I highly recommend them to collectors who are just starting out into the BJD dolls like me.

Hugs,
Diane

If you use kips (plastic discs) you can get the poseability with the resin as well. I don't know much about the vinyl dolls, to be honest, but I think it's best to go with what you love and what you feel comfortable with handling. My BJD is a resin doll, but I wouldn't rule out getting a vinyl in the future. It all comes down to the headmold.

My first BJD was a very small resin - a Domuya Potpourri. I sold her, but I still love her. I played with her ALOT. I only felt that a normal complexion would be better (I had a white version) after I got my MSD. I do think I will replace my Potpourri when they have their big half-price sale. It should be this summer.

I love your wig!! How did you make it - is it easy - and second question do you take commissions dollchitchat/AddEmoticons07635.gif

Have you enhanced the face of your innuendo? She is lovely dollchitchat/vdaybouncies3.gif

Joyce of Joyce's dolls has kindly said I can have an Innuendo on layaway if I like my Secret - such a nice lady!! She should be arriving later on this week/early next fingers crossed dollchitchat/141.gif

I have now received my Secret and once the batteries in my camera are replaced will take pics and post in arrivals.

But I thought I would post my feelings on her...

I LOVE HER!!!!

I think I must be some sort of non bjd person, though, as I vastly prefer her vinyl to the resin bjd's I've had and sold on. She holds poses well and the vinyl feels very much like resin, nothing like the fashion doll vinyl I was expecting! I have added a touch more colour to her, as she is pale, she is a similar colour to Unoa and is totally beautiful dollchitchat/vdaybouncies3.gif The resin BJDs I've owned have all been kicky and flippy and would do karate chops as you walked past!! That said, I have only owned the cheaper resin BJDs so maybe the more expensive ones are better. But for a non-resin loving BJD wannabe, I think for the price they are very nice dolls

I can't wait to get more of these lovely dolls, and am hoping Goodreau bring out their cute boy in vinyl this year dollchitchat/141.gif

That's fabulous, Kathryn! Pictures please! dollchitchat/vdaybouncies3.gif

I noticed my Domuya was quite kicky, but my Volks doll isn't so much as long as her stringing is correct in the leg/hip joint. Plus, I got the kips so her neck and shoulders can hold a pose quite easily. So, yes, I think price does factor in, but I wouldn't generally say more expensive is generally better, because my Volks also has the ability to hold fewer poses than the Domuya I had. So, it's a trade-off. There are definitely benefits to both.

Hi,
I have a doll that is called a Hujoo.

They are vinyl type, not resin, and elastic strung and very posable.

I really love them for an alternative to not spending so much on resin dolls.
They are a different type though. Large eyes, like a combo of a Blythe and a bjd doll. I also like dolls that I end up loving, that are not over $100 dollars. I feel so much more that I can "play" with them and not destroy them in any way, or their retail value.

The Hujoo has the joints and they do rotate, so you have to adjust them every once and a while, but it is worth it to pose them. I just LOVE too how easy it is to open the head and change eyes. It is so nice. I can't say enough about them.

I also have had large, mini and tiny size resin bjd dolls. I have liked them all, for what they are.

A photo of my Hujoo next to a very tiny resin bjd Banji Dollmore doll.
