Stop worrying about it by Debbie Rocker

One of my students decided that she was going to the beach -– period. She wasn't waiting until she "lost the weight," wasn't hiding behind excuses. She loves the ocean and wanted to get out her boogie board, go for a swim, and walk on the sand, so she did!

Here's what happened: She began to really like herself again. She emailed me and said, "What have I been doing? I have been treating myself like a prisoner"...and consequently, she has felt restrained in every area of her life.

But why now? Why was she able to break through her chains of self-dissatisfaction and punishment now? The answer quickly became very obvious to me -– she was eating a clean diet, exercising regularly, and meditating too. She had been doing the work and feeling better about herself because of it, even though she hadn't lost the weight she wanted to lose –- yet. She felt good –- not because she had lost weight, but because she was taking care of herself.

And yes, very soon after, the weight began to fall away –- easily -- because it wasn't so important! She wasn't focused on the problem (I'm too heavy), which only makes the problem worse (what you focus on, you get more of). Instead, she was focused on the solution -- doing things that contribute to her feeling great!

When feeling good, not losing weight, is the focus, everything that contributes to you feeling good (like losing weight) begins to happen easily.

So get in the water! You know what I mean -- get busy taking care of yourself, and get back into the things you love(d) to do before you lost sight of who you really are and all that you deserve.

Enjoy the rest of your summer!
