Difficult for me to decide, really as I am so new to doll collecting, and know so little about them - I never knew what a Skilli was until this morning (I thought it was a type for Sili or phonic abbreviation!) when I found myself looking at ... Simone ... posted by LauraLovesDolls over on DF!

At first I thought Simone, was someones daughter! a real child! and it took 2

By my owned Favourite, just now is Shiloh - I am very attracted to faces with
lots of expression, and now I realise that Shiloh (aka Cora-Lee) who I bought for
her "Coy" sideways look, head cocked to one side too ... IS sort of, like, most of
the Skilli babes expressions! now I am stuffed for a a photobucket loaded photo
of Shiloh with that coquettish pose! So this one, will have to suffice just now ...

WOW NITA is fantastic ... very pretty sleeping - ... and I do not know this artist ! I love the outfits and the photos are fantastic too ! I like Ariella esp. reborned by Renaissence Babies!

AND DUH ! I just realised Shiloh was not a kit ! She just got taken apart and reborned ! and I have no idea if Skilli's are kits?

No worries. There is so much out there that it's SO overhwhelming!

Doll kits, or reborning kits, are basically babies or more recently toddlers. They are a "naked" head and limbs and sometimes include the body, but not the weighting inside the body. People do reborn manufactured dolls, though, like Masterpiece Dolls, Ashton Drake dolls, etc. I'm not sure how exactly, but the dolls are stripped and reborned. Cora-lee is a Masterpiece collection.

Skille dolls are created by a doll artist named Sissel Skille. These would fall under the category of "Artist Dolls". There are two types: vinyl and OOAK. The vinyl dolls are not so expensive unless you are looking for a very popular doll named Simone which can sell very high depending on the condition, market, buyer and seller. The other dolls are perhaps a few hundred which is less expensive than the more rare OOAK's which sell for about $10,000. (OOAK = one of a kind) You can see Pat's and Janet's Skille dolls on this forum in the Vinyl and Vinyl-Silicone section here on the forum. I also posted a link to an American doll shop called The Dollery in the general chit chat section. I believe they are cernit. To be honest, I don't collect these dolls but they are very popular. Other artist dolls include Annette Himstedt dolls, Zwergnase dolls, etc. Romie Strydom used to design artist dolls but now designs kits. I have one of her earlier porcelains (my avatar) and LOVE her work.

I have been watching the Strydom kits to see the "one" pop up. Nita is "it" for me! I have admired a silicone doll by Michelle Fagan for awhile and have been looking for that open-mouthed sleeper to reborn. Here is the Fagan silicone: http://www.michellefagan.com/Maysilicone.htm It's a beautiful doll but I don't want to get into silicones. As far as baby dolls go, I like the reborns at the moment. It could change over time, but I really love the freedom with reborns - I can design my own baby doll! I can select the sculpt, the style of the painting, the rooting and everything. That's very appealing for me.

I searched this kit and definitely understand why you love it so much, Marina! It's SO cute!!!

I wonder if Cora-Lee (aka Shiloh) had a soft body before reborning? and I guess she had hollow legs/arms - I know she had a wig and is now beautifully rooted and her skin is more realistic child/than the pics of her as a not "reborn doll!" Since her leg came off I know she what stuffing she has

So Simone is about £5,000 NOW I SEE WHY THEY ARE THE TOP OF THE TREE ! she looks so so real child on the sofa photo !!! and yes, I do love her but cannot afford nor would justify this price ! Lucky here, we can enjoy all the dolls photos! maybe oneday ...

Oh boy! I have WAAAAY too many. But the one that comes to mind right away is LeeLee by Laura Tuzio-Ross.

I have just ordered Mommys' Angel by Romie Strydom....she has three quarter arms and full legs (can't wait to have a baby who can wear those frilly knickers and lie with her bottom in the air like my babies did!)
