Hi all,
I often go through the posts on chit chat with a coffee or a tea to hand, and love popping into this section as it often makes me smile. I have a lot to smile about now, after having a very stormy patch recently with lots of unhappinesss and not knowing what the hours never mind days would bring.
Now though things have settled somewhat, I have a new toddler coming (thank you Jackie) plus my own daughter is having a baby, due within the next three weeks.
So I wondered girls, whats your favourite baby name? - a happy thought thinking of names, and why we pick them. I love for example Jemimah, which means little Dove. My daughter loves Lillyanna ( I dont know the meaning of this but guess it is a cross between Lilly and Anna! And my dog is called Jack, after the hero in the Titanic...
Please share your fav name, and if you have a story to tell about it maybe we can have a few smiles. Also another sneaky reason for posting this, as the new parents to be can't settle on a girls name yet!!!

My daughter was named Charla as her dad and i couldnt agree on a name.I wanted Charlotte and he wanted Carla so we mixed the two and came up with Charla.
I love the name Montgomery but no one else does.Mongomery is a strong English name.He was the leader of the Army in the desert rats. !!!
I wanted to call my last son Ruben as it means red hair and Lewis is ginger.!!
Our daughters name is Claire and has been since I was 6 months pregnant with her, Claire was the name she responded to by kicking me and doing sumersaults.

and ignored all the other names we had chosen. Our son we named Benjamin and the same thing happened with him. I love the name Benjamin, now at 22 he gets called Ben and I only use his fulll name when I'm cross with him. Ben is named after his dad, Benjamin Joseph, Joseph is also hubby middle name. But I didn't want our daughter named after me.
For my dolly girls I like flower names, but I only have one named after a flower, my most favourite Rose, her name is Rosie. Oh yes I have a Poppy to. The others have names that I think suit them, they sort of tell me what their names are when they come.
I don't think I have a favourite name
Interesting topic.
I once worked with a lady who had a friend called Jacinta. I absolutely loved this name & as each granddaughter arrived I suggested this name but had no takers!
So I named one of my reborns Jacinta!
Hugs Linda

my daughter is called hermione, and i like the name jack :D

My favourite girls name had been NATALIE right from a young age, so when my daughter was born I knew straight away what to call her she was NATALIE AND KATE after my nan, and her mother before her.
My son was named DAVID ALEXANDER two strong masculine names that we both had always loved though his friends call him DAVE which I hate. I never use shortened names I like using their full names.
My favourite doll names are HARRIET which I love and if we had more children I would have chosen for a daughter.

Thank you for replying girls, there are some really nice names listed and some I've not heard of before. I am going to read them out to my daughter to see if she and my son in law are taken with any!

to you all for giving us so many nice names. I too like the name Grace, its the name of the fairy doll I am busy with at the moment. I also like Honour and Annharad; I wonder why we have a period where some names are popular too, like when I was at school there were many Janet's, Barbara's, Simon's and John's. Janet and John

.And now all the lovely flower names, like Rose, Poppy, Daisy, are blossoming...Thank you for some lovely replies!
