Hi,

If you read the new member check in, here's the post with stupid bjd questions that I promised to send.

I've been soaking up info. and admiring your dreamy doll collections - but I have
a tall, naked, bald boy due to arrive next week and really don't want him to remain that way for too long.

I'm even embarrassed to admit who he is, for fear those experienced will shake their heads and say "the poor dear, doesn't know what she is doing"...

However - he's a 63cm, I was told he'd wear an SD 10/ SD 13 size...? Only just discovered what "SD" stood for. (yep - it's really that bad...)

Of course I'm still baffled by the terms of "1/4"

Was looking for a wig that isn't fur, or fur like. Something like real hair? (haven't developed my funky side)

Are normal shoes somewhat impossible to come across? I wouldn't want him in loafers, but something that isn't a boot with chains...(yes, I hear those collective sighs, you are feeling sorry for him already aren't you?) I love the bad boy looks everyone has - just feel like I need to graduate to that point...
Just looking for some jeans, a nice shirt (even I'm cringing over here....) do they need socks??? oh my gosh.

Please have mercy on me - I'm new to bjds and need HELP!!!!!! dollchitchat/smilie_help.gif

(THANK YOU!)
Valerie

Congratulations on your BJD Valerie, you shouldn't be ashamed to admit who he is, noone here would look down on your BJD we all like different types here ^^

You can get a lot of 'normal' clothes and shoes for your BJD guys, the most common stuff you see if the more gothic stuff but there are normal jeans and t-shirts and what not out there.
I have quite a few bits for the BJD guys in more store, which is worth checking out if your in the UK since everything is already here and ready to be shipped.
http://stores.ebay.co.uk/one-stop-otaku-shop

You can get acrylic wigs for all the BJDs, I don't think you get any human haired wigs though, but the acrylic ones do look like normal hair. The best place to go for wigs is ebay since most Korean BJD artist have a premium on the shipping of about $20 so buying a wig and having to pay that much shipping is a pain.
I'll be looking forward to seeing your guy when he arrives ^^

Hi,

Thank you for your help! I went window shopping, following link after link and came across some nice options. (then I didn't remember where I saw what! dollchitchat/4.gif yes, I've just been anxious to use that smilie- it seems to sum it all up for me!)

Naturally I was hoping to find everything in one place, but that didn't happen. Does anyone have experience with purchasing an outfit that is displayed at some doll stores where the doll is standing in a window marked Elfdoll Store, like a manniquin and gifts are piled up at it's feet? You can't see how long the pants are!

Oh, and you're right. I'm not ashamed of my guy - but there is so much to consider about these, and I'm not knowledgable enough to have thought it all out...that's why I'm embarrassed! I have the tall version of Elfdoll Wu coming home next week (I hope...).

Thank you again!!!!
Valerie

Wu is lovely Valerie ^^ He is a but of an awkward size for buying pants but for tops and things it anything SD, boots and shoes might be a bit of a squeeze but they will go on with some pushing ^^ You don't have to be as gentle with then as you think.

DoA is a good forum but honestly anything you would need to know can either be found here or someone here will have an answer for you. If you don't want to ask your questions on the board here because you feel silly for asking just PM me I'm always aorund and I'll answer any questions you have ^^
I've helped a lot of ladies here buy a doll, clothes you name it so I'm sure I'll be able to guide you though it too ^^

Model doll pants are far to big for him, the modle guys are 70cms tall so they would hang really far down the legs and the wais would be to big aswell. Most SD pants will fit Cheery doll I find is he best place since the pants are all really long legged and they fit the 63's great it's where I get all of Fahrenheit's pants from ^^

ooookay. I just got halfway through a reply and Poof! It disapeared.
(I explain this only in case a partial response pops up here later)

I was thanking people for their help - just noticed a similiar question was asked earlier on the last page, and links to shops were provided. I'm sorry for not noticing that before and flying into a panic! LOL

Also wondered why sellers seem to generalize "fits 60cm" for shoes and wigs.
Would a 60cm wig fit my 63cm boy? I realize we are talking height, but wouldn't the head be larger? (oh my gosh - even I know that's a stupid question....)

Thank you again - so much to learn!!!

1/4 scale is MSD sized or mini super dollfie, Kid delf 43cm dolls
1/3 scale is generally the SD sd13 sd10 delf sized stuff.

Ebay has a millon and one BJD shops and sellers. mimiwoo sells nice trainers and the like and out fits.

For the most part all 58- 63 cm dolls wear the same sized wigs amd the wigs are elacticated to help you.

Shoes are pretty generic in sizes too. though boys vary sd10 is girl sised sd13 boys are larger and for hounds is huge.

Ellen?
I knew famous people belonged to this forum!
Yes, I do like my boys... dollchitchat/AddEmoticons0762.gif
In fact, I even have a mannequin standing around in the upstairs living room. He's been looking out of the window for about 2 years now. Took awhile to get used to him, and regular visitors have named him. One day I heard some shouting out front - when I looked outside, some guy was standing in our driveway, looking up and waving his arms, trying to get the mannequin's attention to see if he wanted to buy some firewood!
But there I go off subject.
Where are all the bjd people???

LOLOL!!!!
Your mannequin is a great burglar alarm!!! I tell Michael that's what I use my Himstedts for. If anyone broke in here they'd be so scared-- like the night of the living dead! A little more costly I admit, but so much more attractive!!!

Welcome to BJD's you just need to get that boy home and put his pic on, then everyone will flock to your post! We need photos.

Has he arrived yet?? cant wait to see pics. and to see how you dressed him.

I got my very first BJD msd girl coming, can't wait. my very own one. V jumps up and down dancing.

Hi Veronica!
It seems that two of us here adopted Elfdoll Wu boys...mine has arrived, but I was waiting for him to be decent before introducing him to the group!
His wig came last week, haven't tried it yet, but it looks l-o-n-g-e-r than expected....
An outfit I couldn't pass up because it included shoes (aggh-the very same thing that lures me when buying Himstedt dresses) is on it's way. Hope it fits....
I'm also bowing to the seniority of the other member who rec'd Wu...she may want to show her new guy first?
Congratulations on getting your first too!!! There would be so many more options with having a little lady bjd I would imagine! What fun! Please, can you show pictures when she arrives???

dollchitchat/3r.gif Seniority there is no such thing here, we just have to be polite to the mods, because it's the right thing to do. and we may need their help one day and because there so nice. But if you have something new to show then please show it, him, her what ever it is dolly related. Please there is no need to wait for others to show theirs. sol lets see him in the New arrivals, and here in the bjd section. dollchitchat/bearhugblinkie1.gif dollchitchat/morevdayb2.gif dollchitchat/morevdayb2.gif
